Melbourne, FL | Full-Time | Onsite | 9/80 Schedule
Join a growing engineering team developing advanced embedded and high-speed communication systems supporting defense and mission-critical applications.
As a Systems Engineer, you will lead system architecture, requirements development, hardware/software integration, and verification activities across complex embedded platforms. You'll work closely with software, electrical, FPGA, test, and manufacturing teams to ensure technical solutions meet customer requirements from concept through production.
This is an excellent opportunity for a systems engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, influencing product architecture, and driving programs from initial design through integration, test, and deployment.
What You'll Do
- Lead system architecture, requirements development, and technical planning activities
- Define, decompose, and manage requirements throughout the product lifecycle
- Develop and maintain Interface Control Documents (ICDs), verification plans, and system-level technical documentation
- Coordinate hardware, software, FPGA, and test engineering activities
- Lead system integration, verification, validation, and formal design reviews
- Manage technical risks and drive resolution of system-level issues
- Support customer interactions, technical presentations, and program reviews
- Collaborate with manufacturing and production teams to ensure successful product transition
- Support Agile development and cross-functional engineering efforts
- Mentor junior engineers and help drive systems engineering best practices
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline
- 8+ years of systems engineering experience
- Experience with system architecture, requirements development, integration, and verification
- Experience managing requirements traceability and system documentation
- Strong understanding of embedded systems and hardware/software integration
- Experience leading technical reviews such as SRR, PDR, CDR, and TRR
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Strong communication and customer-facing presentation skills
- U.S. Person with ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with DOORS, Jama, or similar requirements management tools
- Experience with defense, aerospace, or government programs
- Experience with high-speed communication systems and embedded processors
- Knowledge of MIL-STD-461 and MIL-STD-810 testing
- Experience with Jira and Agile development environments
- Understanding of AS9100 and configuration management practices
- Experience transitioning products from development into manufacturing
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Melbourne, FL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $84.13/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
