Network Test Engineer/ Wireless Lab Engineer
Job Description
Network Test Engineer (Callbox / Wireless Lab Specialist)
\n
Level: L1 (Entry-Level / Early Career)
\n
Work Location: Mountain View, CA (On-site Lab)
\n
\n
Key Responsibilities
\n
Callbox Operation & Test Bed Bring-Up
\n
Configure, calibrate, and operate industry-standard cellular callboxes (e.g., Anritsu MT8821C / MT8000A, Amarisoft Callbox Classic / Ultimate, Keysight) for RF simulation
\n
and device verification.
\n
Set up 4G LTE, 5G NR Standalone (SA), and Non-Standalone (NSA) simulated network cells with varying carrier bandwidths, MIMO configurations, and frequency bands.
\n
Maintain lab RF cabling, attenuator matrices, splitters, and RF shielding enclosures to ensure interference-free test execution.
\n
\n
Test Execution & Network Validation
\n
Execute comprehensive test suites for cellular device bring-up, carrier feature acceptance, and multi-SIM behavior.
\n
Validate core features including:
\n
Dual SIM Dual Standby (DSDS) and seamless data switching.
\n
IMS Services: VoLTE, VoNR, Wi-Fi Calling (VoWiFi), and SMS/MMS over IP.
\n
Network attach/detach, inter-RAT handovers, cell reselection, and mobility transitions.
\n
5G Standalone (SA) registration, PDU session establishment, and network slicing behaviors.
\n
\n
Protocol Log Capture & Triaging
\n
Collect detailed protocol and system logs using debugging tools such as ADB, QXDM, Wireshark, Shannon Logger, and native Android logging tools.
\n
Perform first-level log analysis across 3GPP protocol layers (Layer 1 / PHY, Layer 2 / MAC / RLC / PDCP, and Layer 3 / RRC & NAS).
\n
Identify protocol signaling failures, unexpected call drops, IMS registration errors, or radio link failures (RLF), and submit clear, actionable bug reports with reproducible steps and log snippets to engineering teams.
\n
\n
Automation & Lab Maintenance
\n
Run and monitor automated regression test benches using automated test harnesses and device farms.
\n
Utilize basic scripting (Python / Bash) to automate routine testing workflows, parse log metrics, or execute repetitive callbox commands via SCPI/API.
\n
Keep callbox firmware, software packages, and SIM/eSIM profiles up to date.
