Job Description

Cullerton Group has a new opportunity for a DevOps Engineer 3. The work will be done hybrid in Chicago, IL or Dallas, TX, with onsite work required twice per week and as requested. This is a long-term position that can lead to permanent employment with our client. Compensation is up to $80.00/hour + full benefits (vision, dental, health insurance, 401k, and holiday pay).

Job Summary

\n

The DevOps Engineer will support engineering teams in developing, building, testing, and deploying cloud-based software solutions and infrastructure. This role will focus heavily on AWS cloud environments, CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, MLOps/AI services, and troubleshooting complex application and cloud connectivity issues. The engineer will work independently on complex infrastructure components while partnering with cross-functional development teams to improve software quality, scalability, and deployment efficiency. This position requires extensive hands-on AWS and DevOps experience along with strong technical communication and problem-solving abilities.

Key Responsibilities

\n

    \n
  • Design, develop, test, and deploy cloud-based software systems, applications, and infrastructure.
  • \n

  • Manage AWS IAM and troubleshoot cloud connectivity, application, infrastructure, and networking issues.
  • \n

  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub, GitHub Actions, and YAML.
  • \n

  • Build and deploy AWS cloud infrastructure using AWS CloudFormation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices.
  • \n

  • Support AWS MLOps and AI environments utilizing technologies such as SageMaker, Bedrock, ECS/EKS, and IAM.
  • \n

  • Work directly with engineering teams to develop, debug, test, and deploy cloud solutions while serving as a DevOps technical resource.
  • \n

  • Perform integrated testing and customer acceptance testing to ensure reliable, high-quality releases.
  • \n

  • Identify complex technical problems, perform troubleshooting and resolution, and support critical systems when necessary.
  • \n

  • Establish strong software engineering and DevOps practices while identifying opportunities to improve scalability, quality, and team effectiveness.

Required Qualifications

\n

    \n
  • High school diploma required; a college degree is not required.
  • \n

  • 5–7 years of software development experience, including at least 5 years of DevOps engineering experience.
  • \n

  • At least 5 years of hands-on Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud experience.
  • \n

  • Strong proficiency with GitHub and GitHub Actions, including YAML-based CI/CD pipelines.
  • \n

  • Experience writing and deploying AWS cloud infrastructure using AWS CloudFormation templates.
  • \n

  • Strong AWS experience with MLOps and AI services, including technologies such as SageMaker Notebooks, Bedrock, ECS/EKS, and IAM.
  • \n

  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code and cloud deployment practices.
  • \n

  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • \n

  • Strong interpersonal, written, and technical communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering teams.
  • \n

Preferred Qualifications

\n

    \n
  • Associate- or Professional-level AWS and/or Azure certifications related to DevOps, development, or architecture.
  • \n

  • Experience with AWS firewall and network configuration.
  • \n

  • Experience with Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure and Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates.
  • \n

  • Experience with NVIDIA GPUs for AI use cases, particularly from cybersecurity and governance perspectives.
  • \n

  • Experience supporting MLOps, AI, or machine-learning infrastructure.
  • \n

  • Strong experience supporting scalable cloud environments and cross-functional software engineering teams.
  • \n
