Overall Objectives:
Responsible for ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards regarding all RSM, QCM, and SMS programs. Coordinate compliance needs with the VP of Quality Systems. Support the Quality Department and interface with other departments (Engineering, Production, etc.) to ensure adherence to repeatable production processes required for consistent quality. This position involves a comprehensive understanding of aviation regulations and standards, as well as hands-on involvement in inspecting and testing aircraft components.
Responsibilities:
The following is just an outline and in no way limits other non-mentioned responsibilities from being added:
- Responsible for maintaining all Company Quality Manual systems (QMS) in compliance and up to date. Ensure deadlines are met when changes are released across the different certifying agencies such as FAA, EASA, UK, CAAC, etc.
- Responsible for internal audits and follow-up of findings. Maintain internal audit files and report to Upper Management as needed.
- Work with Quality Control Inspector to ensure training manuals and trainings are up to date and compliant with all company QMSs. Inform the Quality Control Inspector of updates and revisions.
- Perform in-person annual product audits as required for certifying agencies, usually 3 per year. Report findings, maintain records, and suggest trainings or changes as needed.
- Backup for performing needed trainings is usually covered by the Quality Control Inspector.
- Interface with other company departments, Upper Management, and with outside agencies to ensure everyone is informed of latest revisions or updates to agency requirements.
- Work collaboratively with shop supervisors, engineers, techs, and other Quality Department personnel as needed, to audit processes used in testing, when the customer requests product audit or at on-site visits, and to identify and address quality issues.
- Understand the 5S program and act as backup as needed.
- Report and document discrepancies in quality processes.
- Maintain and promote a company's Safety culture.
- Responsible for maintaining all applicable SMS programs in compliance
- Coordinate with the VP of Quality Systems regarding on-site audits and compliance. Ensure shop compliance and suggest edits to building maintenance or safety systems.
- Assist the VP of Quality Systems in tracking and analyzing trends in warranties and discrepancies. Suggest trainings and best practices to upper management for continuous improvement. Help identify and address quality issues.
- Cooperate with any other quality-related activity as required.
Skills and Qualifications
Required Qualifications include:
- High school Diploma or GED certification minimum. Bachelor's a plus.
- 3-5 years of experience with aviation standards and requirements. A&P license is a plus.
- Computer skills: Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent verbal and writing communication skills in English. Spanish a plus.
- Ability to work well under pressure, multitask, and meet daily deadlines; manage a large volume of communication, and be a cooperative team player.
- Problem-solving and decision-making experience for moderately complex issues.
- STRONG attention to detail.
