Job Title: Data Warehouse/BI Developer
Location: Richmond, VA
Contract Duration: 6 months (potential extension)
Job Description:
The Client is looking for a skilled SQL Developer/Tester with expertise in database development, programming, and testing to support key initiatives. This role involves collaborating with investment programs to enhance data management, improve processes, and ensure data integrity and availability.
Responsibilities:
- SQL Development: Create and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and ETL packages (SSIS).
- Performance Tuning: Review and optimize SQL queries and execution plans to improve performance.
- Data Manipulation: Develop efficient data manipulation techniques, converting Excel tasks into SSIS packages for faster data processing.
- Testing: Develop test plans, test cases, and ensure thorough testing of reports and workflows.
- Documentation: Create clear technical documentation (requirements, process maps, etc.) and provide recommendations for development processes (code promotion, code reviews).
Required Skills:
- 5+ years in SQL database development and programming
- 3+ years in QA/testing roles
- Experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
- Proficient in writing technical documentation
- Strong communication skills and ability to work both independently and in a team
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with automation tools like Power Automate
- Familiarity with data governance practices
- Experience in the investment/financial market industry
