Position Overview The Programmer will assist the 432 Support Squadron Civil Engineer Flight with the development of complete facility planning and programming for assigned projects by establishing facility and infrastructure requirements critical for mission accomplishment; proposing the most effective and economical means of satisfying those requirements; identifying the year in which they will be required; and acquiring both the authority and resources necessary to meet facility requirements identified by the planning process.
Essential Job Function

  • Conduct site/facility surveys to gather and assess preliminary information; applies and/or adapts standard professional engineering theories and practices to evaluate the engineering soundness of programs/projects.
  • Create programming documents such as data forms, funding forms, formal presentation drawings, and other supporting documents to submit requirements and justification to Congress and/or higher headquarters for approval of military construction projects funding.
  • Coordinate projects with other engineers and subject matter experts in a variety of disciplines, architects, and planners as well as tenant organization representatives and construction agents such as private contracting companies, Army Corps of Engineers, and the AF Civil Engineer Center.
  • Conduct briefings and presentations of the progress/status of programs/projects to the installation facility board and higher reviewing activities.
  • Keep abreast of emerging technologies to ensure programmed development will not prematurely become obsolete.
  • Comply with health, safety, and environmental rules and procedures and performs work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work environment.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS degree in Engineering or Construction Management from an ABET accredited university or college.
  • Minimum of 4 years of programming experience in the Department of Defense within the last 10 years, OR, Minimum of 4 years of project development experience with at least 4 years of cost estimating experience in the United States within the last 10 years
  • Secret Clearance

  • Work experience related to the Air Force, project and requirement development, cost estimating.
