We are partnering with an established semiconductor equipment manufacturer seeking an experienced Applications Engineer to support a manufacturing customer in Boise, Idaho.

This is a highly visible, customer-facing technical position for an engineer who understands thin-film processing, semiconductor manufacturing equipment, and process development.
\n
You will serve as the primary technical liaison between the equipment manufacturer and its customer, working directly within an advanced semiconductor manufacturing environment to optimize equipment performance, develop applications, troubleshoot process challenges, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates nationwide, including support that may involve temporary housing and home-finding assistance.

Key Responsibilities

- Serve as the onsite technical liaison between the equipment manufacturer and a major semiconductor customer.
- Support ion beam processing equipment and associated thin-film applications.
- Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot semiconductor processes to improve equipment and application performance.
- Collaborate directly with customer engineers, technicians, and internal technical teams to resolve process-related challenges.
- Perform technical demonstrations, process evaluations, and application development activities.
- Establish and maintain best known methods (BKMs) for process control and continuous improvement.
- Coordinate with field service and engineering teams on equipment issues, upgrades, and process improvements.
- Translate customer requirements into technical solutions and product enhancement opportunities.

Required Qualifications
\n

- Strong hands-on experience with semiconductor thin-film processing or related semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
- Background in thin-film deposition or related technologies such as PVD, CVD, or ion beam processing.
- Ability to troubleshoot process and equipment performance issues in a semiconductor manufacturing environment.
- Experience working directly with customers or in a technical role requiring regular cross-functional communication.
- Strong technical communication skills and the ability to independently manage customer relationships.
- Broad understanding of semiconductor equipment and processing rather than expertise limited to a single narrow function.
- Willingness to work onsite five days per week in Boise, Idaho.

Education / Experience:

- Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of related experience; OR
- Master's degree with 3+ years of related experience; OR
- PhD with relevant technical experience.
