Job Description

Job DescriptionJob Title: Data Annotator/Map Annotator
Location: Sunnyvale, CA (onsite)
Contract: 06+ months

Description:
Summary

We are looking for a skilled Data Annotator to join our AV Labs team. In this role, you will be at the forefront of autonomous vehicle development, transforming raw sensor data into high-precision training sets and foundational road maps essential for training safe self-driving algorithms.

This role brings together static road modeling and dynamic scene understanding. While annotators may focus primarily on specific areas—such as 3D perception or HD mapping—you will maintain the versatility to dynamically pivot across different data modalities and project streams as priorities evolve. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented spatial thinker with strong analytical judgment, dedicated to ensuring absolute data accuracy and logical consistency.

Key Responsibilities
-Label, classify, and construct high-fidelity datasets across 2D camera imagery and 3D LiDAR point clouds, covering dynamic objects as well as static roadway environments.
-Build and verify static map layers, lane connectivity, and intersection paths, ensuring all roadway features and traffic controls reflect accurate real-world navigation rules.
-Perform rigorous reviews across labeled data and auto-generated outputs, proactively intercepting sensor anomalies, edge cases, and structural inconsistencies.
-Partner closely with engineers to resolve corner cases, define labeling standards, and continuously refine labeling rules and taxonomies.
-Follow complex project instructions, meet production KPIs, and adapt quickly to evolving toolchains, regional driving rules, and shifting project priorities.

Requirements
-Bachelor’s degree or relevant background in GIS or 3+ years of relevant data annotation experience.
-Prior data annotation experience within the Autonomous Driving or Robotics industry.
-Hands-on experience working with 2D and 3D annotation platforms, specifically navigating LiDAR point clouds, aerial/orthophotos, and multi-camera systems.
-Exceptional spatial reasoning and a solid grasp of road network layouts, lane connections, traffic laws, and multi-sensor spatial relationships.
-High mental agility with the capability to pivot quickly across different project scopes, tooling environments, and geographic regions.
-Comfortable working on-site 5 days a week.
