Senior Network Engineering Lead
Job Description
Senior Network Engineering Lead — DoD Telecommunications Program (Scott AFB, IL area / Remote)
\n
\n
Converge Networks Corporation (CNC) is seeking a Senior Network Engineering Lead to serve as the technical authority on a major DISA/DITCO telecommunications transition effort.
\n
This is a customer-facing, deliverable-driven technical leadership role — not a back-office position. You'll lead a small team of senior engineers supporting ~40 customer data networks through a multi-year transition from legacy GSA contracts onto the GSA EIS contract and DITCO Voice Services.
\n
\n
Key Responsibilities:
\n
🛠️ Serve as senior technical lead for a team supporting ~40 customer data networks, each individually competed under Fair Opportunity
\n
📝 Author or oversee authorship of customer Performance Work Statements (PWS) used to solicit EIS vendor proposals
\n
🔄 Support each assigned customer from initial requirements through completed transition — true cradle-to-cutover ownership
\n
👥 Staff, develop, and serve as first-line technical escalation for a bench of senior network technicians
\n
🔍 Evaluate proposed network configurations for technical feasibility and recommend alternatives when requirements are unclear or outdated
\n
💬 Act as vendor-neutral technical advisor to the PMO and customers on current-generation technology choices
\n
📈 Drive process improvements across the broader ~70,000-order transition effort
\n
📊 Contribute technical content to program reports and the Risk Register, and support the Cyber Threat Security Plan with network-level input
\n
\n
What you bring:
\n
🎓 Bachelor's degree (electrical/computer engineering, computer science, telecommunications, or related) — or 4 years of directly relevant experience in lieu
\n
📈 10+ years of progressive telecom/network engineering experience, including 5+ years on federal (DoD preferred) network transition or migration programs
\n
📄 Experience translating customer network requirements into formal government contracting documents (PWSs, SOWs, IGCEs)
\n
🌐 Technical fluency across transport/access, IP-based, management/application, voice, and special/wireless service categories (MPLS, VoIP, VTC, satellite, and more)
\n
🇺🇸 U.S. citizenship required; ability to obtain a Tier 1 (T1/NACI) investigation
\n
\n
Nice to have:
\n
⭐ Direct experience on the incumbent TSST effort or a comparable DITCO/DISA transition task order
\n
⭐ Carrier-side or major-vendor network engineering background
\n
⭐ Active CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent DoD 8570/8140-aligned certification
\n
⭐ Experience drafting Independent Government Cost Estimates (IGCEs)
\n
⭐ Familiarity with PM² or PMBOK methodologies
\n
\n
Details:
\n
📍 Remote/telework, with local travel around Scott AFB, IL and occasional CONUS travel
\n
📅 Base year starts Nov 2026, with options through 2031
\n
💼 Full-time, exempt
