My client is seeking a Data Catalog Engineer to join a growing Data Governance team focused on improving data discovery, lineage, metadata management, and governance capabilities across the enterprise.
\n
\n
This role is ideal for someone who has hands-on experience implementing, configuring, and supporting data catalog and metadata management platforms. You'll be responsible for enabling trusted, well governed data through the effective use of governance technologies and metadata platforms.
\n
\n
Working closely with governance analysts, data product managers, architects, and engineering teams, you'll help deliver scalable governance solutions that improve data quality, transparency, compliance, and access across the organisation.
\n
\n
Based in New York with 3 days in office.

Responsibilities

- Configure, administer, and support enterprise data catalog platforms and governance tooling.
- Build, maintain, and optimise metadata ingestion processes and source system integrations.
- Design and develop custom integrations and bespoke solutions where out-of-the-box platform capabilities do not meet business requirements.
- Configure connections across data platforms, reporting tools, and governance technologies.
- Validate, manage, and enhance data lineage across key systems and data assets.
- Implement metadata standards, classifications, stewardship workflows, and business glossary associations.
- Support data quality initiatives, metadata enrichment, and data asset certification processes.
- Partner with business stakeholders and technical teams to capture and document business context for critical data assets.
- Develop governance workflows supporting approvals, certifications, stewardship activities, and access controls.
- Drive user adoption through training, enablement sessions, documentation, and governance best practices.
- Contribute to Agile delivery activities including backlog refinement, sprint planning, and stakeholder engagement.

Key Requirements
\n

- 5+ years of professional experience within data focused environments.
- Previous experience in a Data Governance Engineer, Data Catalog Engineer, Metadata Engineer, Governance Platform Engineer, or similar role.
- Strong understanding of metadata management, data lineage, data cataloging, and governance technologies.
- Hands-on experience with enterprise data catalog platforms such as Atlan, Collibra, Unity Catalog, Alation, Informatica or similar governance platforms
- Experience configuring governance tools, onboarding data sources, and managing metadata integration processes.
- Familiarity with Databricks, dbt, cloud data platforms, and modern data architectures.
- Working knowledge of SQL and data modelling concepts.
- Experience supporting metadata governance, stewardship processes, and data quality initiatives.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across both technical and business teams.
