Job Title: Technical Telecommunication Migration Specialist

Location: Onsite - Office of Information Technology, University of California, Irvine, Irvine, CA 92697

\n

Primarily onsite at the University of California, Irvine. Hybrid work arrangements may be considered based on project needs following an initial onboarding period. California candidates only

\n

Perform configuration, testing, cutovers, and validation for phone number migrations to Teams Phone, AudioCodes, and Avaya.

\n

Configure and maintain Mitel PBX, Teams Phone, and AudioCodes gateways; convert Mitel Hunt Groups into Teams Call Queues.

\n

Validate unknown numbers with departments, determine correct migration paths, identify risks, and update telecom inventory records.

\n

Provide technical input for the evolving Avaya migration design.

\n

Reconcile telecom data across PBX, Teams, LDAP, billing, and inventory systems; create reports, spreadsheets, dashboards; use AI tools to improve efficiency.

\n

Produce migration documentation, configuration standards, and handoff materials for UCI staff.

\n


\n

NICE TO HAVE:

\n

AWS Connect, higher‑ed or healthcare telecom experience, clinical environment migrations.

\n


\n

TECHNOLOGY THEY’LL BE WORKING WITH:

\n

Expertise with Microsoft Teams Phone, Direct Routing, Auto Attendants, Call Queues

\n

Experience administering Mitel PBX

\n

Hands-on configuration of AudioCodes gateways

\n

Prior enterprise telecom migration experience

\n

Strong analytical skills, especially Excel

\n

Experience using AI tools for documentation or analysis

\n

The University of California, Irvine is seeking a technical contractor to support its campus-wide telecommunications modernization, migrating roughly 4,500 remaining phone numbers from the legacy Mitel PBX system to Microsoft Teams Phone, AudioCodes analog gateways, and Avaya (for Health Sciences).
