Job Description

Summary

DevMatiQ is hiring an Azure Systems Engineer (Contract) to build cloud infrastructure, data pipelines, and sync workflows for a system transformation project within a mid-sized construction group.

This is a contract-to-hire role with the opportunity to convert to full-time (at a higher compensation) after successful project delivery. Ideal for someone who enjoys building robust systems from the ground up, solving sync complexity, and being trusted to get things done.

Responsibilities

Azure Infrastructure & Provisioning

  • Configure secure environments with diagnostics, backup policies, TLS, and identity management

  • Ensure cloud readiness for multi-system ETL and integration workloads

ETL Pipeline Ownership

  • Use Azure Data Factory, Airflow, and Python to build pipelines that transform CSVs and flat files from Google Cloud Storage

  • Normalize data (jobs, POs, timecards, receipts) into a production Azure SQL schema

  • Maintain sync queues, handle retries, and log data flow issues

Middleware Integration

  • Configure and test CData connectors for Sage 300 CRE, Paylocity, wasp inventory cloud

  • Define field-level mapping and enforce sync validation rules

  • Implement audit logging, deduplication, and rollback mechanics

SQL Architecture & Modeling

  • Design relational schemas (staging → transform → production)

  • Define foreign keys, indexing, and naming conventions

  • Support reporting views for downstream tools like Power BI

Required Skills & Experience

  • Experience across Azure, ETL, and SQL-based systems

  • Proficient in:

    • Azure SQL and Blob Storage

    • Azure RBAC, Key Vault, and cloud security basics

    • Python for ETL scripting

    • SQL schema design and optimization

    • Middleware configuration (CData, KingswaySoft, or similar)

  • Experience building integrations between disconnected or legacy platforms

Bonus

  • Prior experience integrating with Sage 300 CRE, Paylocity, or construction ERP tools

  • Knowledge of Power BI data modeling and view optimization

Engagement Terms

  • Structure: Contractor (Corp-to-Corp or 1099)

  • Rate: Equivalent to $120,000/year

  • Start: ASAP

  • Term: 6–12 months with opportunity for full-time hire

  • Full-Time Conversion: Strong performance may lead to permanent hire with increased compensation

Location & Work Environment

  • Hybrid role: Must be based in or near Minneapolis for periodic on-site collaboration

  • Work Style: Self-directed, collaborative, solution-oriented

  • Client Environment: Mid-sized construction company undergoing system rebuild

To Apply

Email your resume and a short write-up about a system or integration you built. Include:

  • What problem it solved

  • What broke or went wrong

  • How you made it work

  • Your direct contributions
