Position Overview
A growing construction contractor is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to support its expanding electrical construction operations.
This position is ideal for a Project Engineer with experience in electrical construction, industrial infrastructure, and public works who is looking to take on increasing responsibility within a strong project team.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with public owners or agencies and understand the requirements associated with public-sector construction, including project specifications, submittals, RFIs, documentation, scheduling, and coordination.
The company has a significant project backlog and is continuing to grow, creating an opportunity for a Project Engineer to become an integral part of the operations team and develop alongside the organization.
Responsibilities
- Support Project Managers with the administration and execution of electrical construction projects.
- Assist with project schedules, budgets, procurement, and cost tracking.
- Prepare, track, and manage RFIs, submittals, transmittals, and project documentation.
- Review project plans, specifications, drawings, and contract documents.
- Coordinate with owners, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel.
- Assist with change orders, pricing, and project documentation.
- Participate in project meetings and maintain project records.
- Support project closeout and turnover activities.
- Help identify and resolve project issues throughout construction.
- Work closely with field and operations teams to ensure projects remain on schedule and within budget.
- Take on increasing project-management responsibilities as experience develops.
Ideal Background
- Approximately 5+ years of construction experience preferred.
- Electrical construction experience strongly preferred.
- Experience with industrial construction and/or infrastructure projects.
- Public works/public-sector experience is highly important.
- Experience working with public agencies, municipalities, utilities, or public owners.
- Experience with water/wastewater facilities, substations, utilities, power infrastructure, or similar industrial projects is highly relevant.
- Familiarity with public-sector specifications, submittals, RFIs, and contract requirements.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with both field and office teams.
- Stable employment history and a demonstrated interest in building a long-term career in construction.
