Role Description

The Project Manager II role at Parkins is a full-time, hybrid position based in San Diego, CA, with flexibility for some remote work. This role is responsible for planning, executing, and overseeing utility and substation projects from initiation through completion, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
\n
\n
Day-to-day responsibilities include coordinating schedules and resources, managing project risks and issues, tracking milestones, and maintaining clear communication with stakeholders, vendors, contractors, and internal teams. The Project Manager II will also oversee expediting activities, inspection coordination, and logistics management to ensure materials and services are delivered according to project requirements. Additional responsibilities include preparing project documentation, status reports, and performance metrics while identifying opportunities to improve project execution and outcomes.

Qualifications

- Required substation project experience.
- Required utility industry experience.
- Must be local to the San Diego area.
- PMP or PMI certification required.
- Demonstrated proficiency in project management, including planning, execution, monitoring, risk management, and stakeholder communication.
- Experience coordinating utility infrastructure projects across multidisciplinary teams, contractors, vendors, and other stakeholders.
- Experience with expediting and expeditor functions to ensure timely delivery of materials, services, and project documentation.
- Background in inspection coordination and quality assurance to verify compliance with project specifications, requirements, and standards.
- Skills in logistics management, including scheduling, inventory tracking, and coordination of shipments and deliveries.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, construction management, supply chain, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities with excellent attention to detail and follow-through.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience with project management tools and software, including MS Project, Excel, or similar platforms.
- Ability to successfully manage priorities in a hybrid environment across both on-site and remote responsibilities.
