Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to join a Project Management Office (PMO) supporting large-scale organizational initiatives.
The Project Manager will be responsible for the planning, coordination, execution, monitoring, control, and successful closure of assigned projects. This role will manage projects ranging from medium to highly complex initiatives while ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and in alignment with organizational objectives.
The Project Manager will serve as a primary point of contact for project resources, stakeholders, vendors, and subject matter experts throughout the project lifecycle. The role will also oversee vendor relationships and deliverables, remove project blockers, manage risks and issues, and escalate concerns when necessary.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage medium to highly complex projects through the complete project lifecycle using appropriate project management methodologies and tools.
- Develop project plans, schedules, objectives, milestones, and deliverables.
- Coordinate and manage project teams, resources, stakeholders, and subject matter experts.
- Perform standard project management activities, including:
- Scope management
- Schedule management
- Budget management
- Risk mitigation
- Change management
- Stakeholder communication
- Resource management
- Project implementation
- Project closure
- Develop and maintain project status reports, dashboards, and key performance metrics.
- Communicate project progress, risks, issues, milestones, and deliverables to stakeholders and leadership.
- Implement change management practices in accordance with established organizational and PMO guidelines.
- Forecast, acquire, and manage resources required to successfully achieve project objectives.
- Ensure project activities and deliverables comply with applicable federal, state, organizational, and regulatory guidelines.
- Manage vendor relationships, project engagements, contracts, and deliverables within approved scope.
- Facilitate contract processes from initiation through completion and closure.
- Identify and remove project blockers and escalate issues when appropriate.
- Conduct regular gap analysis and root cause analysis to identify risks, issues, and opportunities for improvement.
- Develop recommendations and corrective actions to support successful project outcomes.
- Facilitate meetings, workshops, working sessions, and group discussions involving cross-functional stakeholders.
- Serve as an independent facilitator when projects require coordination between multiple teams or departments.
- Ensure projects remain aligned with organizational strategy, goals, commitments, and priorities.
- Maintain appropriate project documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience managing projects through the full project lifecycle.
- Experience managing medium to highly complex projects.
- Hands-on experience with Waterfall, Agile, and Hybrid project management methodologies.
- Strong familiarity with Microsoft Project or the ability to quickly utilize the tool for project planning and scheduling.
- Understanding and practical experience applying the Project Management Institute (PMI) Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) Guide and Standards.
- Experience with project planning, scheduling, budgeting, risk management, change management, and stakeholder communication.
- Experience managing vendors, contracts, project deliverables, and external resources.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with employees, stakeholders, leadership, vendors, and project teams at all organizational levels.
- Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Strong meeting facilitation and group leadership capabilities.
- Ability to independently identify project risks, gaps, and issues and recommend appropriate solutions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working within a centralized Project Management Office (PMO).
- Experience managing large-scale public-sector or regulated projects.
- Experience working with government, healthcare, or other highly regulated environments.
- Experience managing projects involving multiple departments, vendors, and stakeholder groups.
- PMP certification or other recognized project management certification is a plus.
Work Arrangement & Schedule
- This is a hybrid position based in Oklahoma City, OK.
- Candidates are expected to work onsite a minimum of 3 days per week.
- Additional onsite days may be required depending on project needs.
- Standard workweek is 40 hours, Monday through Friday.
- Work hours may generally be scheduled between 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM.
- Overtime is not authorized.
