Position Summary

The Software Engineer Level 1 designs, develops, and maintains web-based software applications supporting critical national defense missions. This role contributes across the full software development lifecycle, building backend services, RESTful APIs, and data pipelines that power mission applications, analytics, and operational capabilities.

Key Responsibilities
\n

- Design, develop, test, and maintain web-based software applications using Java and Python.
- Build and support RESTful APIs and integrate external data sources.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve software defects while optimizing application performance.
- Support DevOps processes, CI/CD pipelines, and automated deployment workflows.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, unit tests, and release documentation.
- Collaborate with software engineers, analysts, and mission stakeholders to define, refine, and implement new capabilities.

Required Qualifications
\n

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant software development experience.
- Proficiency developing applications with Java, Python, Spring Boot, and/or Flask.
- Experience using Git, Docker, Kubernetes, and virtualized development environments.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, microservices, and data pipeline architectures.
- Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with Elasticsearch, MongoDB, Redis, or ArangoDB.
- Experience with streaming technologies such as Kafka or Apache Flink.
