Job Description
Job DescriptionGCyber is seeking a Senior ServiceNow Developer to lead technical development of a custom application built on the ServiceNow platform and integrated with an AWS enabled environment. This role requires an experienced software developer who can design and build complex application capabilities rather than merely administer or configure an existing implementation. The Senior Developer will translate operational requirements into technical designs, develop application and integration components, establish development patterns, and guide other developers. The application is expected to exchange and process information through technologies that include AWS services, Apache Kafka, and Elasticsearch.
As the Senior ServiceNow Developer, you will,
- Lead the design and development of complex capabilities within a custom ServiceNow application.
- Translate functional, operational, security, and interface requirements into technical designs and development tasks.
- Develop advanced server-side and client-side functionality using JavaScript, ServiceNow APIs, scoped application capabilities, and reusable components.
- Design data models, security structures, workflows, interfaces, transaction logic, and error-handling patterns.
- Develop and maintain integrations with AWS-hosted services, external applications, data sources, and enterprise platforms.
- Design REST APIs, scripted services, IntegrationHub connections, MID Server integrations, and other approved interfaces.
- Contribute to Kafka-based messaging, asynchronous processing, and Elasticsearch-based search, indexing, or analytics patterns.
- Establish coding standards and reusable patterns that improve maintainability, security, consistency, and testability.
- Conduct code reviews and mentor mid-level and junior developers.
- Diagnose complex application, integration, data, security, and performance issues across components.
- Define unit and integration testing and support regression, security, performance, and acceptance testing.
- Support release planning, deployment validation, rollback planning, and production troubleshooting.
- Produce technical designs, interface documentation, data mappings, deployment procedures, and operational documentation.
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements
- Active TS/SCI clearance
- DoD 8570/8140 IAT II Certification (i.e., Security+. CCNA-Security, CND, CySA+, GISCP, GSEC, SSCP)
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field. Relevant additional experience may be considered in place of a degree.
- Seven or more years of software development experience, including at least four years of hands-on ServiceNow application development.
- Demonstrated experience designing and developing complex custom or scoped applications.
- Advanced JavaScript skills and strong software engineering and object-oriented design fundamentals.
- Advanced experience with Business Rules, Script Includes, Client Scripts, UI Policies, ACLs, Glide APIs, Flow Designer, scheduled processing, and REST integrations.
- Experience designing integrations with external enterprise systems, including authentication, transformation, error handling, retries, and transaction logging.
- Experience conducting code reviews, defining development standards, and mentoring developers.
- Strong understanding of data modeling, application security, performance, testing, debugging, and release management.
- Ability to convert requirements into technical designs and estimates and explain complex issues to technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- ServiceNow Certified System Administrator and Certified Application Developer; relevant implementation or micro-certifications.
- Experience with App Engine, IntegrationHub, Automated Test Framework, source control integration, and application deployment.
- Hands-on experience integrating ServiceNow with AWS-hosted services.
- Experience with Kafka, event-driven architecture, asynchronous processing, Elasticsearch, or OpenSearch.
- Familiarity with API Gateway, Lambda, IAM, S3, CloudWatch, or comparable AWS services.
- Experience with DevSecOps pipelines, automated testing, static analysis, and controlled promotion.
- Experience developing applications for classified or national security environments.
