About the Role
We’re seeking a Software Engineer II to join our team and contribute to the design, development, testing, and maintenance of software systems and tools. This role involves working across the full software development lifecycle, applying industry best practices to build and enhance software-intensive products and infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and enhance software applications and tools, ensuring scalability, performance, and maintainability.
- Conduct unit, integration, and system testing; troubleshoot and resolve software defects and performance issues.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and analyze software requirements, ensuring alignment with business and technical goals.
- Evaluate and ensure software compatibility with various hardware platforms and configurations.
- Apply software engineering principles and best practices throughout the development lifecycle—from planning and design to deployment and maintenance.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams including project managers, QA engineers, and other developers to deliver high-quality solutions.
- Create and maintain technical documentation for code, processes, and system configurations.
- Identify opportunities for process optimization and contribute to the evolution of development standards and practices.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or Master’s with less than 2 years of experience)
- 2–4 years of experience in software development
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, C++, C#)
- Experience with software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies such as Agile or Scrum
- Strong understanding of object-oriented design and development principles
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git)
- Solid problem-solving skills and ability to work independently on moderately complex tasks
- Effective communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
- Ability to obtain or currently hold a Public Trust security clearance
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
- Exposure to DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
- Knowledge of containerization tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
- Experience with automated testing frameworks and tools
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform, Ansible)
- Understanding of security best practices in software development
- Prior experience working in a hybrid or remote team environment
