Job Description: Quality Technician
We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Technician to support product quality and incoming inspections as the company continues to grow. This role will play a critical part in ensuring products meet specifications, fit properly, and function as designed before reaching customers. The ideal candidate enjoys hands-on inspection work, is comfortable using measurement tools, and has experience interpreting drawings, tolerances, and quality requirements in a manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform incoming inspections on components and finished products.
- Use calipers, gauges, go/no-go gauges, and other inspection equipment to verify product conformance.
- Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and tolerance requirements.
- Verify fit, form, and function of manufactured components and assemblies.
- Inspect CNC machined, injection molded, and manufactured parts for defects and dimensional compliance.
- Document inspection results and communicate quality concerns to engineering and operations teams.
- Support containment, corrective action, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Identify recurring quality issues from suppliers and incoming shipments.
- Assist with product validation and approval processes.
- Maintain inspection records and quality documentation.
- Work closely with Engineering and Operations to ensure consistency across a growing product portfolio.
Essential Skills
- High school diploma or technical degree/certificate.
- 5+ years of quality inspection experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision measuring tools.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and basic GD&T.
- Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
- Comfortable performing hands-on inspections throughout the day.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience inspecting machined components.
- Experience with injection molded plastic parts.
- Understanding of go/no-go gauge applications.
- Familiarity with first article and incoming inspection processes.
- Exposure to supplier quality or overseas manufacturing environments.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chicago, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $34.00 - $40.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
