Why You'll Love This OpportunityThis isn't a role where you'll simply design integrations one project at a time. You'll have the opportunity to influence how an entire enterprise approaches integration. As the Integration Solutions Architect, you'll own and advance the organization's Integration Center of Excellence while establishing the architectural patterns, standards, governance, and reusable frameworks that engineering teams use across the enterprise. You'll also play a key role in an exciting transformation as the organization expands its microservices and API capabilities and begins implementing a new event-driven architecture. If you've helped an organization move from traditional integrations toward modern APIs, microservices, cloud-native services, and event-driven architecture—and want the opportunity to influence strategy at an enterprise level—this could be an outstanding next step.Job DescriptionOur client, a financially strong and highly respected enterprise organization, is seeking an experienced Integration Solutions Architect to lead its enterprise integration and API strategy. This highly visible individual contributor will oversee the organization's Integration Center of Excellence and partner closely with Enterprise Architecture, engineering leaders, architects, and product teams to establish the standards and architecture that enable applications and services to communicate securely and efficiently across the enterprise. You'll champion design-first and contract-first API development, help advance event-driven architecture, establish reusable integration patterns, and guide engineering teams in adopting modern integration practices. This is primarily an architecture and technical leadership position rather than an integration development role. You'll collaborate with engineering teams responsible for implementation while remaining close enough to the technology to prototype solutions, build reusable components, and provide hands-on technical guidance when appropriate.Responsibilities

  • Lead and evolve the enterprise Integration/API Center of Excellence
  • Develop enterprise integration and API strategies and technology roadmaps
  • Establish integration patterns, reference architectures, reusable frameworks, and engineering standards
  • Champion design-first and contract-first API development
  • Define and govern RESTful API and microservices architecture standards
  • Help lead the organization's adoption of event-driven architecture
  • Establish asynchronous integration patterns and event schema standards
  • Guide engineering teams on loosely coupled, scalable integration design
  • Partner closely with Enterprise Architecture to align integration strategy with broader technology standards
  • Provide architectural guidance for internal and third-party application integrations
  • Establish API security, governance, lifecycle management, monitoring, and observability practices
  • Improve API reuse, discoverability, and developer experience
  • Guide adoption and optimization of API management platforms
  • Mentor architects, technical leads, and engineering teams on modern integration practices
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and identify opportunities to improve enterprise integration capabilities
  • Develop prototypes and reusable components when hands-on technical work adds value

Qualifications & RequirementsRequired

  • Strong experience designing RESTful APIs and Microservices architectures
  • Demonstrated experience helping lead an enterprise API, microservices, or integration transformation
  • Strong understanding of enterprise integration patterns and distributed systems
  • Experience with Event-Driven Architecture and asynchronous integration patterns
  • Strong cloud architecture experience, preferably AWS
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code
  • Strong CI/CD and DevOps knowledge
  • Experience with API security standards including OAuth and JWT
  • Experience with OpenAPI specifications, API testing, and validation

  • Enterprise Integration or API Centers of Excellence
  • API maturity models and governance frameworks
  • Banking, financial services, or another highly regulated enterprise environment

What Will Make You SuccessfulWe're looking for someone who has done more than simply participate in a modern integration environment. The strongest candidates will have helped drive the transformation. You'll stand out if you can demonstrate how you've:

  • Moved an organization toward APIs and microservices
  • Helped establish enterprise integration standards and governance
  • Introduced or expanded event-driven architecture
  • Created reusable architectural patterns adopted by multiple development teams
  • Improved API consistency, security, reuse, and discoverability
  • Influenced architects and engineers across organizational boundaries
  • Balanced architectural standards with the practical needs of delivery teams
  • Used cloud-native technologies to modernize enterprise integration
  • Turned architecture strategy into standards and solutions that engineering teams actually adopted

Career GrowthThis role offers an attractive technical career path for someone who wants to continue advancing without moving immediately into people management. You'll work closely with the Enterprise Architecture organization and gain broad exposure to technology strategy across the enterprise. The previous person in this position advanced into an Enterprise Architecture role, demonstrating a natural progression toward Principal Architect or Enterprise Architect opportunities. For someone who eventually wants formal leadership responsibilities, broader technology management opportunities may also be available over time.Benefits & Perks
