Anticipated Hire Date: Late September, early October, 2025

GeekSI covers 100 percent employer contribution toward health insurance premiums for employees and 50 percent for dependents.

The remote Cybersecurity Engineer is expected to serve as a technical expert responsible for architecting, engineering, implementing, and optimizing cybersecurity solutions across enterprise environments. This role supports federal cybersecurity initiatives by developing and applying advanced security strategies, tools, and processes that safeguard systems, networks, and data.

The Must-Haves: To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below

  • Must currently reside in the US
  • Must have a Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent
  • Experience: 2 years of experience as a Cybersecurity Engineer
  • Experience with SIEM, IDS/IPS, vulnerability scanners, and endpoint protection tools
  • Familiarity with federal security standards (e.g., NIST RMF, FedRAMP)
  • Basic scripting or automation skills (Python, PowerShell, etc.)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently

Preferred Skills/Experience: The experience listed below are preferred, but not required, for this job

  • Security+, CEH, or similar certification

Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and maintain cybersecurity solutions for enterprise and federal environments
  • Configure and optimize tools such as SIEMs, firewalls, IDS/IPS, and endpoint protection
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and remediation
  • Integrate security into cloud, hybrid, and on-premises systems
  • Monitor, investigate, and respond to security incidents
  • Document security architectures, configurations, and compliance reports
  • Stay current on emerging threats, tools, and compliance requirements
