Job Title: Test Technician I
Job Description
The Test Technician I role focuses on setting up, calibrating, testing, and troubleshooting electronic circuits, components, instruments, and mechanical assemblies. You will work with both standard and more complex systems, following defined test processes and specifications, and contribute to technical documentation and occasional light production support tasks.
Responsibilities
- Set up, calibrate, and test circuits, components, instruments, and mechanical assemblies according to defined procedures.
- Test and troubleshoot electronic assemblies and final systems to ensure they meet performance and quality standards.
- Perform the set-up and testing of more complex systems and mechanical assemblies as required.
- Follow detailed Test Process Instructions (TPI) and adhere to all documented procedures and standards.
- Determine test specifications, methods, and procedures based on statements of work (SOW).
- Complete rework on assemblies and systems, including identifying issues and implementing corrective actions.
- Prepare clear technical reports summarizing test findings and recommending solutions to technical problems.
- Perform supporting tasks such as unpacking, packaging, labeling, and crating equipment and materials.
- Use command-line tools and other software utilities to install, configure, and test hardware and software.
- Download and install software needed for testing and validation of systems and components.
- Troubleshoot software and hardware issues, including server and electronics-related problems.
- Handle and work with computer components in an ESD-safe manner, following appropriate safety and handling guidelines.
- Work safely in environments that may require loud ear protection and adherence to security protocols.
- Carry out any other related tasks assigned to support testing, production, and operational needs.
Essential Skills
- Strong attention to detail when setting up, testing, and documenting work.
- Good written and verbal communication skills for documenting test results and collaborating with team members.
- Knowledge of basic office applications, including word processors, spreadsheets, and databases.
- Familiarity with troubleshooting computer components, including hardware and networking elements.
- Ability to handle and work with computer components safely and accurately.
- Ability to regularly lift, push, and move up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods while performing testing and related tasks.
- Ability to work on ladders or stools when accessing equipment or assemblies.
- Basic computer skills, including downloading and installing software.
- Experience or familiarity with hardware testing and server testing.
- Ability to use command-line interfaces in support of testing and troubleshooting activities.
- Troubleshooting skills for both software and hardware issues.
- Understanding of electronics and electronic components.
- Familiarity with Linux environments and C++ in the context of testing or troubleshooting.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working with test process instructions (TPI) or similar documented procedures.
- Experience interpreting statements of work (SOW) to define test specifications and methods.
- Experience in data center, server, or networking environments is beneficial.
- Comfort working with ESD-sensitive equipment and following ESD safety practices.
- Ability to prepare concise technical reports and recommendations.
- Interest in working in a fast-changing, high-growth technology environment.
- Willingness to perform light production support tasks such as unpacking, packaging, labeling, and crating.

You will work in a large, multi-building facility within a big technology-focused organization that designs, manufactures, and delivers custom server, storage, and networking solutions to major cloud, social media, and enterprise customers. Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fremont, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $24.50 - $28.50/hr.
