RESPONSIBLE TO: CEO/Executive Director

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Training and experience relevant to youth development and/or recreation. High school diploma required/college degree preferred.
  • Ability to supervise program staff and make scheduling assignments.
  • Ability to coordinate multifaceted programs.
  • Desire and ability to work with children indoors as well as outdoors.
  • Ability to accept guidance and supervision.
  • Good character, integrity and adaptability.
  • Ability to work with adult volunteers
  • Current First Aid and CPR certifications or willingness and ability to become certified.
  • Should be able to lift and carry 30 pounds of supplies.

General Responsibility

To further the Camp Fire core values through the development and management of program operations.

Responsibilities:

  1. Design, deliver, and evaluate program that meets the needs and interests of the target populations and ensure their delivery in a safe and quality manner.
    • Remain current with information on the developmental needs of youth.
    • Annually seek and analyze input from youth, families, and staff regarding the quality, safety, and enjoyment of the program and staff.
    • Develop and implement crisis and risk management plan, procedures and training.
    • Design and ensure delivery of programs and activities.
    • Regularly examine community needs, conduct community assessment and evaluate data to determine how Camp Fire may meet community needs. Keep abreast of community educational, cultural, social, and economic and leadership trends and developments.
  2. Oversee the financial management and fund development operations to allow for adequate annual funding and to meet long-term goals.
  3. Design and implement a marketing plan to increase participation.
    • Prepare and analyze program participation trends.
    • Develop and implement recruitment and retention strategies.
  4. Implement human resource management practices to recruit and retain seasonal and year-round staff.
    • Recruit staff based on program management requirements.
    • Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate year-round, short-term and seasonal staff.
    • Interpret to staff and volunteers, council plans, policies, objectives and goals as well as philosophy, goals and objectives of Camp Fire. Train staff and volunteers on both council and industry program policies and procedures.
  5. Maintain records and prepare reports as required.
