Job Description
About The Label Shoppe
We're a family-owned pressure-sensitive label converter running flexographic and digital presses for customers in food, beverage, personal care, and consumer products. We're SGS-audited under a Good Manufacturing Practices program, and quality isn't a department here — it's how we win business. We run on the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS), which means clear accountability, real measurables, and a company where you know exactly what your seat owns.
The role
You'll own our quality management system and our environmental health and safety compliance. This is a hands-on individual-contributor seat reporting directly to our President/Integrator — you'll have real ownership from day one, not a stack of forms to file.
What you'll be accountable for:
- GMP program ownership — maintaining our SGS-audited quality system, document control, and annual certification readiness
- Internal audits — running the internal audit schedule, GMP floor walks, and the annual management review
- Corrective action & customer complaints — investigating quality issues to root cause, driving CAPAs to closure
- Regulatory & environmental compliance — managing federal and California filings (hazardous waste reporting, stormwater, state questionnaires) and the compliance calendar that keeps them on time
- Facility safety systems — coordinating fire sprinkler, extinguisher, and backflow inspections; supporting employee safety training and hazard identification
- Calibration & supplier documentation — scheduling instrument calibration and maintaining supplier compliance records
What we're looking for
- 3–5 years of quality assurance experience in a manufacturing environment — food, beverage, cosmetics, nutraceutical, medical device, aerospace, or printing all translate well
- Experience with a formal quality system and third-party audits (GMP, SQF, BRC, ISO, AS9100 — any of them)
- Comfortable investigating problems on a production floor, not just at a desk
- Strong documentation discipline and follow-through on deadlines that don't remind you they're coming
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus
- Certifications (HACCP, PCQI, internal auditor, OSHA 30) are welcome but not required
What we offer
- A structured 90-day onboarding program and a defined training path — you'll learn flexographic and digital label printing from the press floor up, including substrates, color management, and press-side quality
- Milestone-based pay progression tied to written competency goals, reviewed on a defined schedule
- A genuine growth path — we'd rather promote someone who learned this business here than hire from outside
- Direct access to leadership in a company small enough that your work is visible
Prior label or printing industry experience is not required. We will teach you the printing side.
Company DescriptionIn 1991, Gaytan Foods was the largest copacker of fried pork rinds west of Texas, running more than 30 brands and winning on a promise almost nobody could match: orders out the door in 7 to 10 days. The one thing standing in the way was labels, which took nearly three weeks.
So Rudy Gaytan bought a local label company and moved it next door to his food plant. That's how The Label Shoppe started — not as a printing business, but as a fix for customers who couldn't wait. As the equipment got better, the extra capacity went to other brands with the same problem.
In 2017 we became fully independent from Gaytan Foods. Today The Label Shoppe is run by Rudy's eldest son, Ryan, alongside a leadership team that has spent their careers in labels and packaging. We print pressure-sensitive labels on multiple flexographic and digital lines in City of Industry, serving food, beverage, personal care, and consumer brands across the western US — still solving the problem the company was built to solve.
