Role Overview
The Quality Assurance (QA) Analyst develops and establishes quality assurance standards and testing measures across in-house custom applications and commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) products. Working within cross-functional project teams, this role executes end-to-end testing, creates comprehensive test cases, identifies automated testing candidates, performs defect analysis, and provides advanced Tier III support to ensure software stability, reliability, and business alignment.

Key Responsibilities


Test Planning & Execution
• Translate business and functional requirements into comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scenarios.
• Execute functional, system, integration, regression, and load testing for custom-developed software and COTS solutions.
• Analyze technical architecture and application documentation to verify intended functionality and ensure business alignment.
• Assist in the testing, configuration, and verification of application deployments across environments.

Automated Testing & Defect Management
• Identify test cases that are candidates for automation and utilize testing tools to automate integration and user interface tests.
• Analyze formal test results to discover, document, and resolve defects, deployment/configuration errors, and interoperability flaws.
• Generate structured defect reports and provide quality metrics to QA management to support release readiness decisions.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Tier III Support
• Collaborate with software engineers to enforce QA standards, including unit testing practices that promote high coding quality.
• Provide advanced Tier III customer support and contribute to the IT Service Management (ITSM) knowledge base.
• Perform peer reviews of testing artifacts, providing mentoring and constructive feedback to other QA analysts.
• Assist in establishing and refining change control processes, quality guidelines, and testing best practices.

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or 3 or more years of equivalent relevant work experience in lieu of degree).
• 3 or more years of relevant software quality assurance, manual testing, or automated testing experience (or equivalent experience in software engineering/business analysis).
• Hands-on experience translating business and functional requirements into test plans and test cases.
• Experience testing both custom in-house developed applications and commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) software.
• Demonstrated experience with defect reporting, defect tracking lifecycles, and software troubleshooting.
• Must be a local candidate available to work onsite or hybrid as required.

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working within Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
• Familiarity with web technologies and data interchange formats such as JavaScript and JSON.
• Exposure to relational database querying and verification (e.g., IBM DB2 UDB, SQL Server, or Oracle).
• Prior experience working within public sector, judicial, or government IT environments.
• Experience utilizing test automation frameworks for UI and API testing.
