Job Description
Job Description
We are looking for a Web-to-Print Designer to support our online storefronts, variable templates, and ongoing web-to-print development.
This person will work closely with another developer on template creation, storefront development, digital production, and maintaining existing web-to-print systems. The role combines web design, print production knowledge, technical problem-solving, and hands-on file work.
The ideal candidate has a background in web design, digital design, graphic design, or a related field, along with a strong understanding of commercial print production. They should be comfortable reviewing client brand standards and translating them into functional digital templates that maintain brand consistency while supporting variable content and production requirements.
A strong willingness to learn is one of the most important qualities for this position. Advanced programming knowledge is not required. Much of the specific functionality, workflow logic, and internal processes can be taught on the job. This person will work closely with another developer to learn our existing systems and workflows and gradually take on more responsibility as they become comfortable with the platform.
The role will also support our Customer Service team with digital account creation, account maintenance, storefront access, and related user administration as needed.
Responsibilities
· Collaborate with another developer on web-to-print projects and ongoing storefront development
· Review client brand standards and translate them into functional digital templates
· Build, update, and maintain online templates and web-to-print storefronts
· Create and adjust web forms, variable fields, conditional content, and storefront interfaces
· Make HTML and CSS updates as needed
· Prepare and review files and assets for variable-data and commercial print production
· Test templates and storefronts for usability, accuracy, and production readiness
· Maintain and improve existing storefronts as client needs evolve
· Support Customer Service with user account creation, account maintenance, access, and related digital storefront administration
Qualifications
· Strong willingness to learn new systems, workflows, and technical skills
· Meticulous eye for detail and a strong commitment to accuracy
· Background in web design, digital design, graphic design, or a related field
· Proficiency with Adobe applications, particularly InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat
· Ability to interpret brand standards and build consistent, functional digital templates from them
· Working knowledge of HTML
· Familiarity with CSS and web page layout
· Understanding of dynamic variable-data applications and how data can drive content, layout, and template behavior
· Strong understanding of typography, layout, spacing, hierarchy, and visual consistency
· Strong understanding of commercial print production fundamentals, including:
· Bleeds and trim areas
· Crop marks
· CMYK vs. RGB color
· Spot colors and Pantone colors
· Image resolution
· Vector vs. raster graphics
· Fonts and file preparation
· General requirements for print-ready output
· General understanding of how websites, forms, and browser-based interfaces work
· Comfortable assisting with digital account administration and storefront support
· Strong problem-solving ability
· Comfortable asking questions and learning through hands-on experience
· Organized and able to manage multiple projects and support requests
Helpful, but Not Required
· JavaScript experience
· Previous web-to-print experience
· Data merge or variable-data experience
· Experience with template-driven systems
· Experience with e-commerce, CMS, storefront, or form-building platforms
· Previous customer-facing or technical support experience
· Prepress or commercial print production experience
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for a designer who is comfortable working across both web and print environments and who enjoys learning how systems work.
This is not a traditional graphic design position, nor is it a heavy programming role. A successful candidate should be able to review a client's brand standards and translate them into functional digital templates that remain visually consistent while supporting variable content and commercial print production.
They will work closely with another developer to learn the more specialized parts of the platform, support ongoing storefront development, and gradually take on more complex web-to-print projects. They will also help support Customer Service with the digital administration of client accounts and storefront access.
Our specialized workflows can be taught. Curiosity, adaptability, design judgment, technical comfort, print-production knowledge, meticulous attention to detail, and willingness to learn are more important than already knowing everything on day one.
Growth in the Role
This position offers the opportunity to develop specialized experience in web-to-print production, storefront development, variable data, automation, brand implementation, digital account administration, and commercial print production.
