Role Summary
\n

- Client is looking for an Enterprise Data Governance Consultant to help agencies build and improve data governance programs. The consultant will work with business, IT, privacy, security, legal, and compliance teams to improve data quality, data management, AI governance, and adoption.
\n

\n
Key Responsibilities
\n
- \n
- Develop and implement data governance strategies, roadmaps, and plans.
- Facilitate data governance meetings, workshops, and stakeholder sessions.
- Define data ownership, stewardship, roles, responsibilities, and decision rights.
- Support data quality, metadata, data catalogs, business glossaries, and data inventories.
- Assist with AI governance, privacy, security, risk, and compliance activities.
- Support governance for regulated data such as HIPAA, FERPA, CJIS, IRS 1075, PCI, FTI, and PII.
- Create RACI charts, data dictionaries, issue logs, stewardship plans, and governance documentation.
- Develop training materials, presentations, job aids, FAQs, and communications.
- Deliver training to data owners, stewards, custodians, and agency teams.
- Support change management and stakeholder adoption.
- Conduct data governance maturity assessments and develop improvement plans.
- Prepare meeting agendas, action items, decision logs, reports, and executive-ready materials.

Required Skills
\n

- Strong Data Governance / Data Management experience.
- Experience with data ownership, data stewardship, metadata, data quality, data lifecycle, and data sharing.
- Strong stakeholder management and facilitation skills.
- Experience with change management, training, and communications.
- Ability to explain technical data concepts in simple business language.
- Experience creating governance documentation, policies, procedures, and implementation plans.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work with business, IT, privacy, security, legal, and compliance teams.

Preferred

- State/local government or other highly regulated environment experience.
- Knowledge of DAMA-DMBOK or data governance maturity models.
- Experience with AI Governance / Responsible AI / NIST AI RMF.
- Experience with data catalogs, metadata tools, business glossaries, and knowledge-management tools.
- Certifications such as CDMP, Prosci, PMP, CISA, CIPM, or related credentials.
