Our client is looking for a Senior Windows Infrastructure Engineer who has spent most of their career owning enterprise Windows environments and has grown into hybrid and cloud infrastructure.

This is an engineering role, not a pure administration role. We want someone who builds, automates, and improves the environment, not just someone who keeps it running.

To be clear about what we're looking for, the role breaks down roughly like this:

- 60% Windows / Microsoft infrastructure. This is the heart of the job and should be your strongest skill.
- 25% Azure / cloud. Solid working experience, not architect-level.
- 10% VMware / virtualization.
- 5% automation, security, monitoring, and adjacent technologies.

What You'll Do
\n
- \n
- Own and maintain enterprise Windows Server environment, including builds, upgrades, and full lifecycle management
- Administer and troubleshoot Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and PKI
- Lead patching and vulnerability remediation efforts across the server estate
- Manage and support Azure infrastructure, including VMs, networking, storage, backup, and hybrid identity
- Support our VMware environment, from VM provisioning to performance troubleshooting
- Diagnose complex issues across layers and determine whether a problem lives in Windows, VMware, storage, or the network
- Build PowerShell automation that reduces manual work and improves visibility into the environment

What You Bring
\n
- \n
- Significant hands-on experience with Windows Server 2016, 2019, 2022, and 2025, including server builds, lifecycle management, patching, vulnerability remediation, and performance troubleshooting
- Deep knowledge of Active Directory Domain Services, AD replication, Sites & Services, and Kerberos/Windows authentication
- Experience managing DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and NTFS/share permissions and ACLs at enterprise scale
- Familiarity with certificate infrastructure and PKI
- Working experience with Azure infrastructure, including VMs, VNets, NSGs, private endpoints, Storage, Backup, Site Recovery, and Azure Monitor
- Knowledge of Entra ID, hybrid identity, managed identities, service principals, and RBAC
- Familiarity with AWS or another public cloud
- Hands-on experience with VMware vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter, including VM provisioning, HA/DRS, networking, and performance troubleshooting
- Proven ability to write PowerShell automation, such as server health checks, AD reporting, patch compliance reporting, certificate expiration reporting, or bulk server configuration
