Job Description

Job overview

We are seeking a skilled Distributed Antenna System (DAS) Technician to join our team and contribute to the successful implementation and maintenance of DAS solutions for our clients. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and a passion for delivering exceptional service. Below is a list of the primary responsiblities for this role:

Installation

  • Install DAS components alongside the crew: head-end equipment, antennas and passive devices, coax and fiber cabling, conduit where required, and donor antennas

  • Take on the more technical installs yourself: head-end equipment, donor antennas, terminations, abd grounding

Quality and Documentation

  • Ensure every antenna, device and cable is labeled to match the design and as-built drawings.

  • Take progress and closeout photos and log them in the project app as work is completed.

  • Red-line drawings with any field changes and report them to the technician or project manager the same day.

  • Keep equipment, materials and tools accounted for on site.

Testing and commissioning

  • Perform benchmark and post-install RF grid testing (RSSI/RSRP and DAQ) with PCTEL and Motorola radui equipment, and produce pass/fail reports for the AHJ or carrier.

  • Sweep and PIM test coax and fiber runs; verify every antenna and passive device before closing ceilings.

  • Commission BDAs and DAS head ends: set gains, balance the system, verify uplink and downlink, and coordinate uplink optimization with the public safety radio system owner.

  • Bring Nextivity systems online in the WAVE Portal, set alarm policies and confirm remote monitoring.

  • Verify fire alarm supervisory signals with the fire alarm contractor and support AHJ final inspections.

Crew leadership and quality

  • Lead a crew of 1–3 installers: plan the day, assign work and keep the job on schedule.

  • Hold the crew to ATS install standards: junction boxes secured to the deck, saddle connectors and strap spacing on armored coax, EMT where the design requires it, labeling and grounding.

  • Walk and inspect completed work before testing; correct deficiencies on site.

  • Train and mentor installers toward the technician role.

Design and field engineering

  • Read iBwave designs, riser diagrams and permit drawings, and turn them into a field plan.

  • Perform site surveys and donor site analysis; confirm donor antenna location, isolation and mounting.

  • Identify field conflicts early, propose fixes and red-line the drawings for as-builts.

Troubleshooting and service

  • Diagnose cabling, connector, interference and hardware problems and resolve them.

  • Perform annual BDA tests and cellular performance checks under maintenance contracts.

  • Respond to service calls and alarms on monitored systems.

Coordination and documentation

  • Coordinate daily with the GC, electrical contractor, fire alarm contractor and building staff.

  • Serve as the on-site contact for carriers, public safety agencies and AHJ inspectors.

  • Deliver closeout packages: test reports, photos, as-built red-lines and commissioning records.

Safety

  • Enforce OSHA and site safety rules for the crew, including lifts, roofs, confined spaces and PPE.

  • Work safely on lifts, ladders and roofs and in confined spaces; follow OSHA and site-specific rules, including PPE.

  • Keep work areas clean and protect finishes in occupied buildings.
