Job Description

Application Engineer – Technical Estimating & Proposals

About the Role:

Are you a technically minded estimator or technical quoter who understands electrical systems? We are recruiting an Application Engineer for a leading manufacturer of critical power testing equipment.

In this role, you will be the key bridge between customer technical requirements and manufacturing solutions. You’ll review incoming requests for quotes (RFQs), evaluate electrical specifications, configure custom equipment solutions, build cost profiles, and deliver winning technical proposals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • RFQ Review & Evaluation: Analyze non-standard, complex customer RFQs for critical electrical testing systems.

  • Technical Calculations: Evaluate customer power requirements—calculating maximum kW, kVA, current, voltage, phases, duty cycles, and load profiles to properly size equipment.

  • Proposal & Cost Build-Up: Establish equipment configurations (portable, trailer-mounted, rooftop, containerized) and build accurate, cost-effective commercial proposals.

  • Vendor & Cross-Functional Coordination: Gather third-party quotes for ancillary gear (cables, transformers, trailers) and partner with internal engineering, sales, and end-customers to refine project scope.

  • Documentation: Prepare complete quotation packages, technical specifications, and supporting proposal documentation.

Why Apply?

  • High-growth sector supporting mission-critical industries (data centers, utilities, heavy industrial).

  • Direct visibility and career growth backing strong internal technical and leadership teams.

  • Stable, direct-hire position with competitive pay and comprehensive health, retirement, and PTO benefits.

Requirements

  • Experience: 3+ years of experience in technical product pricing, cost estimating, or technical proposal development for electrical or industrial equipment.

  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of electrical voltage, current, and power distribution fundamentals.

  • Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering preferred, or equivalent hands-on technical quoting experience.

  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interface with engineering teams and technical buyers.
