Quality Assurance Manager Job Description
The Quality Assurance Manager will develop and oversee the food safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
This position is responsible for overall food safety, quality and SQF systems. The successful candidate will help
develop, implement, and enforce security and food safety standards, policies, and programs including HACCP,
SQF and GFSI, regulatory audits, food safety training programs, standard operating procedures (SOPs), product
inspections, consumer demand initiatives and standardized work instructions. This position will also plan,
establish, and manage projects and serve as a liaison between all stakeholders of assigned projects.
Position Responsibilities:
• Develop and provide training for food safety and quality requirements.
• Develop and maintain documentation such as SOPs, as well as maintain manuals, policies and
procedures related to food safety concerns.
• Conduct facility food safety audits as well as manage third party audits.
• Monitor and verify activities to ensure that products coming in and out of the facility meet food safety
and quality standards.
• Update existing food safety procedures and documentation to keep up with changing requirements.
• Supervise QA staff to include all human resource functions.
• Assist Procurement with training and educating potential suppliers to ensure compliance.
• Work closely with Operations on food safety, quality assurance issues, or customer complaints.
• Oversee proper maintenance and sanitation of all facilities to comply with food safety requirements.
• Ensure company food safety and quality assurance procedures are followed and documented correctly.
• Manage internal audit function.
• Lead the team on expanding environmental swabbing/monitoring programs.
• Develop metrics, using statistical process control, to evaluate QA data.
• Develop, implement, and maintain ongoing improvement of the SQF Quality System.
• Understand and recommend efficiencies and improvements as they directly relate to quality of
products.
• Member of operation leadership team responsible for controlling costs while ensuring product
standards exceed customer’s expectations.
• Investigate the use of new techniques and fact-based problem solving to ensure continuous
improvement.
• Establish positive relationships with Procurement, Sales, Operations and other functions to ensure
collaboration and effective and efficient operations.
• Manage projects to ensure adherence to objectives, schedule, and scope of project.
• Establish, implement, and track project milestones and communication plans.
• Provide regular status updates to affected staff and stakeholders.
• Collect, analyze, and summarize information and trends as needed to prepare project status reports.
Supervisory Responsibilities
 Provide all staff coaching training and development in the QA Areas.
 Uses the daily schedule to delegate tasks out to assigned team members.
 Maintaining compliance with GFCO and AOECS standards
 Balance quality, productivity, cost, safety, and morale to achieve results in all areas. Work to continuously
improve in all areas.
 Coach and counsel department employees; discuss other employee issues with Departmental Managers.
Physical Attributes Required:
 Ability to bend, stoop, and twist with repetitive motion that demands the use of fingers, hands, wrists,
arms, and legs
 Standing and/or Sitting for long periods of time (8-12 hours).
 Frequent movement of large equipment that weigh 50+ pounds.

Position minimum requirements:
Experience:
 Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of work experience.
 A minimum of 3-7 years of food safety experience, with management level experience in HACCP, USDA,
or FDA preferred.
 Comprehensive knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, and GAPs
 Previous experience with SQF, GFSI, Primus, BRC and/or FDA/USDA audits required.
 Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a team and with all areas of the organization.
 Understand the capabilities of a baked goods manufacturing facility.
 Proficiency in working with various computer programs and applications.
 Prior experience writing and implementing new and revised programs and policies.
 Analytical ability including collecting and researching data and synthesizing complex and diverse
information.
 Thorough understanding of project management principles and planning.

Hours and Compensation:
 Position: Full-Time
 Must have open availability including nights, weekends, and holidays overtime and non-traditional hours
