Tensley Consulting is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to support a high‑visibility program involving complex system development, integration, and technical leadership. The selected candidate will analyze requirements, guide system design activities, lead technical assessments, and ensure the integrity of engineering deliverables. This role requires close collaboration with government stakeholders and senior program personnel.
Responsibilities
• Analyze user requirements, CONOPS, and high-level system architecture to develop detailed system requirements specifications.
• Lead system requirement analysis, design, and development activities for complex systems.
• Guide users in formulating requirements, recommending alternative approaches, and conducting feasibility studies.
• Provide technical leadership across requirements integration, design, and technology insertion.
• Incorporate new designs and systems into ongoing operational environments.
• Develop comprehensive technical documentation, including system architecture and system design artifacts.
• Support system development and implementation planning through system engineering management plans and system integration/test plans.
• Coordinate with government personnel regarding systems engineering considerations, issues, and technical challenges.
• Maintain technical integrity of all engineering work and associated deliverables.
• Communicate effectively with program staff, government oversight officials, and executive leadership.
Salary: $100,000-$150,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position, but is not guaranteed. Salary is based on experience, location and contractual requirements which could fall outside of the range listed.
, Required Skills
Level 1 Requirements:
• Seven (7) years of Systems Engineering experience supporting programs of similar scope and complexity.
• Bachelor’s degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or related discipline.
• Five (5) additional years of SE experience may be substituted for a Bachelor’s degree.
Level 2 Requirements:
• Fourteen (14) years of Systems Engineering experience supporting programs of similar scope and complexity.
• Bachelor’s degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or related discipline.
• Five (5) additional years of SE experience may be substituted for a Bachelor’s degree.
Required Technical Skills
• Protocol analysis experience using DVT, Wireshark, or similar tools.
• Strong working knowledge of ETHERNET, PCM, VSAT, OSI Model, Computer‑to‑Computer (C2C) structures, and related technologies/protocols: MPLS, VLAN, Pseudowire, TDMoIP, ATM, Frame Relay, TCP, UDP, VCAT, MLPPP, VOIP, VoFR, and voice/video encoding/transcoding.
• Completion of Navy Advanced Communications Signals Analysis Course (452) and Intermediate Communications Signals Analysis Course (451).
• Experience with scripting languages and/or Java for process automation.
• Strong Linux proficiency.
• Experience with Kubernetes clusters (installation, monitoring, optimization) is a bonus.

• Extensive experience with wireless networks (2G, 3G, 4G, 5G).
• Experience performing quantitative and qualitative testing and optimization of Machine Learning models.
• Experience with YOLO, Whisper, VISTA, and other video, image, speech, or text analytics models.
