Job Title: Building Maintenance Technician

Location: Metro Detroit (Multiple Properties)

Position Type: Full-Time

About the Role:
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Building Maintenance Technician to oversee the general maintenance and repair needs across a diverse portfolio of properties in Metro Detroit, including office spaces, restaurants, and other commercial properties, all under single ownership.

This is a hands-on role requiring someone who is both skilled at making repairs and capable of coordinating external vendors when specialized work is needed. The ideal candidate is organized, professional, and able to interact courteously with tenants and vendors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine and emergency maintenance and repairs (e.g., plumbing, electrical, HVAC troubleshooting, carpentry, painting, minor equipment repairs).
  • Conduct regular property inspections to identify maintenance needs and safety concerns.
  • Coordinate and oversee outside contractors/vendors when specialized work or larger projects are required, including obtaining quotes and managing timelines.
  • Maintain organized records of maintenance activities, work orders, vendor contacts, and material/equipment inventories.
  • Respond to tenant maintenance requests and communicate status updates clearly and professionally.
  • Work independently and prioritize tasks across multiple properties.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in general building maintenance, repair work, or similar field.
  • Strong working knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general handyman tasks.
  • Ability to assess when external contractors are needed and manage them effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to interact professionally with tenants and vendors.
  • Self-motivated with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable personal transportation (mileage and gas will be reimbursed).
  • Ability to lift moderate weights, use ladders, and perform physical tasks as required
  • GC License preferred, but not required


Must have a valid Driver's License

Must be willing to consent to a criminal background check.
