Job DescriptionWe are hiring Linux Platform: Data Synchronization & Automation Developer - hybrid for a Contract position in Pittsburgh, PA

Position Overview

This role supports a major financial services customer's engineering organization, which operates within a security and network segmentation focused program. The team's work combines Linux-based infrastructure support with automation development, keeping data synchronized and reconciled across multiple internal systems and environments.

The engineer will build and maintain shell- and Python-based automation, support PostgreSQL-driven data workflows, and work within established CI/CD and enterprise change control frameworks balancing hands-on development work with the discipline required in a regulated, security-conscious environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Build, administer, and support tooling and services hosted on team Linux platforms

• Develop, maintain, and extend automation using shell and Python supporting the team's engineering and security workflows

• Build, maintain, and enhance medium to large data set synchronization automation between multiple systems and environments

• Develop, manage, and maintain efficient PostgreSQL statements and tables embedded in automated process workflows

• Maintain team code using established CI/CD pipeline requirements, including code scanning and packaging

• Support and enhance the team's Apache-based web portal and related services that interface with team data sets

• Operate within enterprise change control management processes, assessing risk and security exposure/impact due to platform changes

• Independently develop and debug up to medium-complexity Python and SQL code, without full reliance on generative AI to produce the deliverable product

Required Qualifications

• Comfortable operating on Linux platforms day to day

• Strong shell and Python scripting ability; must be able to write and troubleshoot code independently

• Working experience with PostgreSQL comfortable with live databases and real, production-grade workloads

• Practical experience with CI/CD pipelines, including code scanning and packaging

• Hands-on experience developing and maintaining small/team websites on Apache

• Experience moving and reconciling data across or between multiple datastores or environments

• Ability to maintain several hours of overlap with the Eastern US business day

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in financial services or another regulated enterprise environment

• Exposure to network segmentation and zero-trust security mindsets

• Familiarity with formal change control frameworks

Estimated Pay Range: 65-74hr
