Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager with a traffic engineering background and a Professional Engineer (PE) license to lead complex transportation projects from conception through construction. The role combines technical leadership in traffic analysis and roadway design with project and client management responsibilities. The successful candidate will deliver highquality engineering solutions, mentor project teams, manage budgets and schedules, and grow client relationships while ensuring compliance with professional and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage multidisciplinary traffic engineering projects from scope development through design, permitting, and construction support.
  • Serve as primary client contact, build and maintain strong client relationships, and lead proposals and presentations to secure new work.
  • Provide technical oversight for traffic studies, signal and intersection design, capacity analysis, safety assessments, and multimodal transportation planning.
  • Prepare, review, and approve engineering deliverables, reports, plans, and specifications to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with standards.
  • Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, staffing plans, and resource allocation to meet project objectives and firm profitability goals.
  • Perform QA/QC on technical products and coordinate project reviews with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with public agencies, utilities, contractors, and other stakeholders to facilitate approvals, permits, and project delivery.
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers and project staff, fostering a collaborative and highperformance team environment.
  • Utilize traffic modeling and simulation tools to support design decisions and provide clear technical recommendations.
  • Support business development efforts including proposal writing, scope and fee development, and client presentations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in the relevant state or the ability to obtain reciprocity within a reasonable timeframe.
  • Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in civil/traffic engineering with at least 5 years in a project management or senior technical lead role.
  • Demonstrated experience as a Senior Project Manager delivering transportation projects, including traffic studies, signal design, intersection improvements, and roadway design.
  • Strong knowledge of traffic engineering principles, modeling, operations, safety analysis, and industry standards.
  • Proficiency with design and drafting software; experience with AutoCAD is desirable.
  • Experience with traffic analysis and simulation tools; Synchro and HCS experience is a plus.
  • Excellent client management, communication, presentation, and leadership skills.
  • Proven ability to manage project budgets, schedules, and multidisciplinary teams to achieve project goals.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites and client meetings as required and a valid drivers license.
