Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop sophisticated system prompts for AI and language models, ensuring optimal performance and user satisfaction
- Conduct rigorous testing and iteration of prompts to refine outputs and improve accuracy, relevance, and reliability
- Collaborate with product, engineering, and data science teams to understand requirements and translate them into effective prompt strategies
- Document prompt engineering best practices and create comprehensive guidelines for the organization
- Analyze prompt performance metrics and user feedback to continuously optimize system behavior
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the development of prompt engineering standards and methodologies
- Stay current with advancements in AI, machine learning, and natural language processing technologies
- Troubleshoot complex issues related to prompt behavior and system responses
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional experience in software engineering, AI/ML, or a related technical field
- Demonstrated expertise in prompt engineering, natural language processing, or AI system design
- Strong understanding of large language models (LLMs) and how they process and respond to inputs
- Proficiency in Python or another programming language commonly used in AI development
- Experience working with AI platforms and tools (OpenAI, Anthropic, Hugging Face, or similar)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent professional experience
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience with fine-tuning language models or transfer learning techniques
- Knowledge of reinforcement learning from human feedback (RLHF)
- Familiarity with prompt frameworks and methodologies (Chain-of-Thought, Few-Shot Learning, etc.)
- Experience in a startup or fast-paced technology environment
- Contributions to open-source AI projects or published research in NLP
- Understanding of ethical considerations in AI development and deployment
- Experience with version control systems and collaborative development workflows
