Job Description

ABOUT THE ROLE

\n

EXOS is bringing on a Transition & Project Manager to lead one of the most visible parts of our new managed services engagement in Evansville, IN. You'll be the central point of coordination from day one — driving the transition through go-live, then stepping into the ongoing PM role that keeps approved technology initiatives on track across 60 departments, 2,100 endpoints, and roughly 90 sites.

\n

This is a hands-on, onsite role. You'll work alongside the Sr. Service Delivery Manager, our technical transition team, client leadership, and the incumbent provider to make sure nothing falls through the cracks during a compressed implementation window. After steady-state, you'll own the project portfolio and serve as a consistent point of contact for IT leadership on planning and delivery.

\n

This role starts as a contract position with a clear path to hire for the right person.

\n

\n

WHAT YOU'LL DO

\n

During Transition — Weeks 1 through 12

\n

    \n
  • Serve as the primary point of coordination across all transition activities — owning the schedule, the status, and the communication between EXOS, the client, and the incumbent provider
  • \n

  • Facilitate the weekly Transition Governance Meeting with client leadership, the incumbent provider, and the EXOS transition team
  • \n

  • Build and maintain the integrated project schedule, milestone tracker, action item log, risk register, and issue log
  • \n

  • Track knowledge transfer progress across infrastructure, applications, cybersecurity, and operational processes
  • \n

  • Coordinate access requests, vendor introductions, and documentation delivery between the incumbent and the EXOS technical team
  • \n

  • Issue the weekly Transition Status Report and keep stakeholders informed of progress, risks, and decisions needed
  • \n

  • Support the go-live and 30-day stabilization period, ensuring the team is fully operational before closing out the transition
  • \n

\n

\n

Ongoing Project Management — Post-Transition

\n

    \n
  • Lead project management for approved infrastructure, cybersecurity, application, cloud, and operational improvement initiatives
  • \n

  • Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, milestones, resource assignments, and vendor timelines
  • \n

  • Facilitate project meetings, steering committee reviews, and implementation planning sessions with client stakeholders
  • \n

  • Maintain a project portfolio dashboard and deliver monthly portfolio reporting for all active initiatives
  • \n

  • Identify, track, and communicate project risks, issues, dependencies, and mitigation strategies
  • \n

  • Support organizational change management — scope changes, schedule adjustments, stakeholder communications, and user readiness
  • \n

  • Assist with annual technology planning and prioritization based on operational need, lifecycle position, cybersecurity risk, and available funding
  • \n

  • Coordinate annual disaster recovery (DR) testing — including planning, scheduling, stakeholder coordination, and documentation of results
  • \n

  • Coordinate with the EXOS Project Management Office when large-scale or emergency initiatives require additional support
  • \n

\n

\n

WHAT YOU BRING

\n

    \n
  • 3–5 years of project management experience, ideally in a managed services, IT services, or government technology environment
  • \n

  • Demonstrated ability to manage concurrent workstreams and keep complex projects on schedule with multiple stakeholders involved
  • \n

  • Comfortable working directly with government or public sector contacts — you know how to build trust with department heads and communicate clearly under pressure
  • \n

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; you can produce a clean status report and run a governance meeting with confidence
  • \n

  • Working knowledge of IT infrastructure environments, ITSM platforms, and project management tools (MS Project, Jira, or equivalent)
  • \n

  • PMP certification is a plus but not required — demonstrated delivery track record matters more
  • \n

  • Onsite availability in Evansville, IN — this role requires daily presence, especially during the transition period
  • \n

\n

\n

NICE TO HAVE

\n

    \n
  • Experience supporting CJIS, HIPAA, or PCI compliance environments
  • \n

  • Background supporting municipal or county government IT operations
  • \n

  • Familiarity with ERP systems, GIS platforms, or public safety technology
  • \n

\n

\n

WHY THIS ROLE

\n

You'll have real ownership from day one. This isn't a coordination-only position — you're leading governance with client leadership, shaping how the engagement runs, and building something that matters for a community. If the fit is right, the path to a permanent role is straightforward.

\n

EXOS is a strategic IT and managed services company based in Indianapolis. We're growing our public sector presence and this engagement is one of our flagship relationships. The Sr. SDM and technical team around you are experienced and invested in making this work — you won't be figuring it out alone.
