The Quality Technician ensures that precast concrete products consistently meet engineering, customer, and industry standards by performing inspections and material testing throughout the production process. This role combines hands-on testing, detailed documentation, and close collaboration with production and engineering teams to maintain high levels of quality and safety.
Responsibilities
- Perform pre-pour and post-pour inspections of precast concrete products to verify compliance with specifications and quality standards.
- Conduct fresh concrete testing, including slump, air, spread, and other material tests, to confirm concrete quality and adherence to project requirements.
- Inspect finished concrete structures, poles, racks, and other precast components to ensure dimensions and tolerances meet engineering and customer specifications.
- Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and production documents to confirm that products are manufactured to the correct design and specifications.
- Accurately use tape measures and other dimensional verification tools to confirm product measurements and quality standards.
- Perform concrete sampling and strength testing in accordance with company procedures and relevant industry standards.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of inspections, test results, and quality documentation for traceability and reporting.
- Collaborate closely with production personnel, supervisors, and engineering teams to identify, communicate, and resolve quality concerns.
- Verify that finished products meet customer specifications and are ready for shipment.
- Follow all company safety procedures and quality control processes while working in manufacturing, lab, and outdoor environments.
Essential Skills
- Experience in quality control, quality assurance, or quality inspection within concrete, construction materials testing, precast concrete manufacturing, or related industries.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to verify product requirements.
- Proficiency in using tape measures and other dimensional verification tools with a high degree of accuracy.
- Strong attention to detail and a clear commitment to maintaining high quality standards.
- Ability to work independently, manage tasks, and accurately document inspection and testing findings.
- Comfort working in both indoor and outdoor manufacturing environments.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and move throughout a production facility for extended periods.
- Willingness and ability to work overtime as required to support production and testing needs.
- Experience performing fresh concrete testing and concrete strength testing.
- Familiarity with precast or prestressed concrete production processes.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- ACI (American Concrete Institute) certifications, especially Field Testing Technician certification.
- PCI (Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute) Level I or Level II certification.
- Hands-on experience with concrete testing methods such as slump testing, air content testing, and spread testing.
- Knowledge of precast, prestressed, and precast concrete manufacturing practices.
- Understanding of industry specifications and standards related to concrete and precast products.

Work Environment
This position operates in a manufacturing and testing setting with approximately 70% of the time spent outdoors in the production yard and 30% in the lab performing concrete testing. The role involves regular movement throughout the facility, including standing, walking, bending, and climbing for extended periods. You will work around precast and prestressed concrete products, testing equipment, and standard measuring tools, following established safety and quality control procedures in all areas.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tampa, FL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $24.00/hr.
