Job Title: Contract Translations Engineer

Location: Charlotte North Carolina 28277 (100% Remote)

Duration: 12 months, with Potential to extend

Type: Contract

Pay Rate: $31 per hour on W2

\n

Work Hours: 40-hour work week. (8 am – 6 pm ET) – estimate (EST AND CST CANDIDATES or OPEN TO ASJUST TO EST TIME ZONE)

Required Skills & Experience

\n

    \n
  • Computer engineering degree with relevant experience; fundamentals of TDM trunking, IP-centric technology as well
  • \n

  • MS Office, TIRKS, and Telnet are a hard must.
  • \n

  • TDM voice switch experience is non-negotiable.
  • \n

  • 2/3 switching platform knowledge.
  • \n

  • Strong trunk and switching provisioning experience and knowledge are non-negotiable.
  • \n

  • Switches: 5ESS, DCO, DMS-10, DMS-100, C20, EWSD, GTD-5; SIP technology
  • \n

  • Self-motivated, requires minimal intervention, good communication skills
  • \n

  • Microsoft technology
  • \n

Required Skills & Experience

\n

    \n
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Engineering, or equivalent telecom/military experience.
  • \n

  • Strong hands-on experience with voice translations engineering in carrier-class networks.
  • \n

  • Strong knowledge of TDM voice switching, call routing, trunking, signaling, screening, and numbering.
  • \n

  • Good understanding of SIP, SS7, ISUP/Q.764, Q.931, and voice-network architecture.
  • \n

  • Experience with SS7 signaling, including A-Links, STPs, signaling routing, and translations.
  • \n

  • Experience supporting network migrations, switch consolidations, modernization, network rearrangements, and telecom capital projects.
  • \n

  • Ability to analyze existing network configurations and develop accurate translations/network changes.
  • \n

  • Experience creating and executing MOPs, implementation procedures, test plans, validation plans, and back-out plans.
  • \n

  • Strong troubleshooting skills across call routing, signaling, trunking, and translations.
  • \n

  • Experience working within formal change-management processes and maintenance windows.
  • \n

  • Comfortable with PuTTY, SecureCRT, MS Word, and Excel.
  • \n

  • Ability to coordinate with engineering, operations, transport, signaling, project management, and vendors.
  • \n

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet implementation deadlines.
  • \n

Desired Skills

  • Experience with Ribbon, SBCs, media gateways, Stratus, or similar carrier-class voice platforms.
  • \n

  • Experience with circuit emulation and transporting legacy TDM services over packet networks.
  • \n

  • TDM-to-SIP voice migration experience.
  • \n

  • Carrier-class trunk groups, routing plans, numbering plans, signaling configurations, and interoffice networks.
  • \n

  • Voice-network modernization, switch decommissioning/consolidation, or legacy-platform retirement.
  • \n

  • Background as a Translations Engineer, Central Office Technician, Voice NOC Engineer, or similar.
  • \n

  • Scripting/data-processing experience with Python, Perl, VBScript, or similar.
  • \n

  • Experience with pre/post-change validation and troubleshooting customer-impacting voice issues.
  • \n

What You Will Be Doing

\n

    \n
  • Analyze legacy TDM voice configurations and determine translations required for migration to SIP/CSP infrastructure.
  • \n

  • Design and implement translations for call routing, trunking, signaling, screening, numbering, and traffic migration.
  • \n

  • Support migration of voice trunks, signaling, and ancillary TDM services.
  • \n

  • Develop MOPs, scripts, command sequences, test plans, validation procedures, and back-out plans.
  • \n

  • Perform pre-change analysis to identify routing conflicts, signaling issues, dependencies, capacity concerns, and potential service impacts.
  • \n

  • Implement approved network changes during scheduled maintenance windows.
  • \n

  • Perform post-migration testing and validation of call routing, trunks, signaling, and network functions.
  • \n

  • Troubleshoot TDM/SIP interoperability, translations, signaling, and call-processing issues.
  • \n

  • Coordinate with network engineering, operations, transport, signaling teams, project managers, and vendors, including Ribbon and Stratus.
  • \n

  • Maintain detailed project documentation, network configurations, test results, and implementation records.
  • \n

  • Identify and communicate technical risks, dependencies, and implementation concerns.
  • \n

  • Manage translations deliverables across multiple concurrent telecom projects.
  • \n

  • Serve as a subject-matter expert for legacy voice translations and SIP/CSP migration.
  • \n
