KSTU & KUPX, the Scripps-owned television stations in vibrant Salt Lake City, Utah, are on the lookout for an experienced and innovative Senior Director of Sales. This pivotal leadership role calls for a driven individual with a proven track record in media sales who is ready to take the helm of our proactive sales management team.

As the Senior Director of Sales, you will leverage our impressive suite of advertising solutions—including OTT, social media, digital display, and broadcast television—to unlock growth opportunities for local and national businesses. You will play a crucial role in reaching our revenue goals while serving as the home station for Utah’s new NHL team, the Utah Hockey Club. Collaborate with our award-winning production team to devise compelling, multi-platform campaigns that connect our clients with their customers in meaningful ways. You’ll set revenue goals, manage inventory, and develop your team to ensure we exceed targets.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Collaborate with the General Manager and other Scripps managers to establish and accomplish the station's objectives.
  • Create sales budgets and project/forecast weekly station revenue to achieve annual targets.
  • Manage all broadcast and digital inventory; set and adjust station rates to maximize revenue.
  • Oversee the sale of advertising time to clients and agencies, which may require local and national travel.
  • Maintain high visibility in the market by meeting with clients, advertisers, and community organizations.
  • Develop best practices with other sales leaders to optimize team performance.
  • Initiate and manage new business projects and local station initiatives.
  • Train, develop, and motivate the local sales team to meet revenue goals and build a pipeline of future talent.
  • Provide training and developmental coaching for sales managers covering local, national, and general sales management.
  • Handle all personnel issues effectively.
  • Collaborate with traffic system personnel to manage airtime inventory efficiently while approving all orders.
  • Set goals with the station's national rep firm and hold them accountable for performance.
  • Assess local market positions and value through competitors' strengths and weaknesses.
  • Maintain integrity in all business dealings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Generally, 10+ years of proven success in media sales, including at least 3 years in management.
  • Experience with inventory, pricing, and political advertising guidelines is required.
  • Experience in strategic account management, broadcast inventory, and digital/video capabilities.
  • Availability for some travel.
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record, along with the ability to provide proof of insurance aligned with company requirements.
