ABOUT TAIYO YUDEN:

TAIYO YUDEN (U.S.A.) INC., or UTY, produces surface-mount and leaded passive electronic components as well as functional modules that incorporate active components. Product lines include capacitors, inductors, ferrite beads, EMI filters, ferrite cores, resonators and LC filters, functional modules, Energy Devices (Super Capacitors), and SAW/FBAR filters and modules. UTY is a wholly owned subsidiary of a TAIYO YUDEN CO., LTD.. We manage all sales, distribution and related operations for North and South America. The US operations headquarters is located in Solana Beach, California. UTY has sales offices throughout the US. We operate warehouses in Torrance, California and McAllen, Texas.


GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Manager, IT and IS is responsible for the review, design, implementation, and management of all Information Technologies for TAIYO YUDEN (U.S.A.) INC. (“UTY”). He/she will also be responsible for identifying, resolving, and reporting IT-related problems and providing ongoing technical maintenance and support for all voice, video, and data environments.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Job Objectives - The position will manage UTY’s IT and IS environment including but not limited to the areas below. This below will encompass monitoring and maintaining the IT and IS environment with respect to cost, security, performance, stability, and accessibility. In addition, the role should ensure that company data is safeguarded and recoverable in both small and large disasters and develop and maintain relevant IT and IS documentation including network/server settings, asset inventory, and security/disaster recovery procedures.


1. Asset Control – IT asset management including hardware, software, and licensing.

a. Asset Inventory List – inventory record management and verification.

b. Lifecycle Management – IT asset procurement and disposal processes.

c. System Checks – IT asset monitoring including performance and security.

d. Software Licensing – software and hosted service licensing including maintenance.

e. Computer Distribution – employee computer installation and setup including software.

f. Mobile Devices – company mobile device procurement and distribution.

g. GID & Network Authentication – network access identification and authorization.

h. Active Directory User ID – computer and user login management.

i. Unified Communications System (UCS) – audio and video conference software and subscriptions.

j. Office 365 Subscriptions – Microsoft cloud software and service licensing.


2. System Configuration – IT and IS system configuration including design, implementation, and management.

a. Network Architecture – data, voice, and video network configuration.

b. Datacenter Landscape – datacenter management including server, storage, and virtualization.

c. Standard Operating Environment – standard employee computer configuration policies.

d. Contracts & Vendors – 3rd party support contract management and vendor liaison.

e. Admin Password Management – admin password data storage and protection.

f. Provides information system support to all departments by managing for optimum SAP/OASIS/CRM system performance through analyzing, monitoring, and evaluating the SAP/OASIS/CRM operating systems and application software.

g. Manages SAP/OASIS/ClicData/POS DB master data and programs as required.


3. Information Security – IT data security including disaster recovery, archiving, and password control.

a. Datacenter Backup – datacenter backup and recovery including services and applications.

b. Datacenter Shutdown – datacenter activity including startup and shutdown processes.

c. Message Archiving – data archiving for compliance discovery and retention.

d. Encryption Management – endpoint cryptography installation and removal.

e. Password Governance – password policy control including lifetime and complexity.

f. Manage ARIA, AGNIS, ACROS and ATAC3 access requests to JTY.

g. Act as lead for the ISMS Management Review Meetings and responsible for ensuring UTY IT stays in compliance with the ISMS system that was put in place.


4. Company Training: IT security training – Utilize KnowBe4 to train all end users.

a. Annual IT Training

b. Phishing Training and Reporting

c. ISMS Training

d. All other training as needed or required.


5. Budgeting and Planning – IT/IS budget development and forecasting including fixed and non-fixed assets. Prepare and manage operating expense budgets and capital expense plans. Assure department costs are regularly reviewed and discussed with UTY senior management.


6. Outsourced Vendor Management – Overseeing and coordinating outsourced IT services and staff.

a. Vendor Staff Supervision – Managing on-site technicians and engineers sent by vendors, including facilities.

b. Network Planning – Collaborating with vendors on future network infrastructure and strategic planning.


7. Internal Staff Management – Direct oversight and management of internal IT and IS Staff. This includes ensuring that action plans are effectively implemented, setting goals, monitoring results, appraising performance, and providing counseling, training, and coaching to foster improved performance.


Additional Job Duties and Functions:

• Manage and measure performance of the UTY Help Desk

• Act as primary liaison to the company’s IT group located in Japan. Provide necessary feedback on companywide initiatives and related WW network upgrades and security policies.

• Lead the ISMS steering committee to help guide security and compliance strategies.

• Lead the effort to keep the ISMS and ISO 27001 certification risk assessment up to date and aligned with actual business practices.

• Perform other related duties and projects as assigned by management.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

1. Strong knowledge and experience with voice and data services including private line (T1), fiber, Ethernet, wireless WAN, PRI, POTS, and CO trunks.

2. Strong knowledge and experience with public and private hosting environments including datacenter, partner-hosted, and cloud.

3. Strong knowledge and experience with Cisco technologies including ASA security appliances, routers, switches, wireless, VPN, Telepresence video, Jabber, Call Manager, Unity, Expressway C&E, Webex, and Unified Computing Systems.

4. Strong knowledge and experience with Microsoft technologies including Active Directory, Exchange, SharePoint, Dynamics CRM, SQL, ADFS, Windows Server & Client OS, and Office suite.

5. Strong knowledge and experience with VMware technologies including ESXi, vCenter. VMware Fusion, and VMware Workstation.

6. Strong knowledge and experience with endpoint security protection technologies including anti-virus and encryption.

7. Strong knowledge and skill with TCP/IP protocols and services including SMTP, DNS, SFTP/FTPS, SSL, DHCP, HSRP, EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, IPSEC, and SNMP.

8. Knowledge of telecommunications equipment including phone systems and telephony services.

9. Strong written and oral communication and presentation skills.

10. Ability to communicate with co-workers, and business contacts in a courteous and professional manner.

11. Knowledge of the ISMS and ISO 27001 standards.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

BS in Computer Science or Management Information Systems; 7+ years’ experience with complex computer environments (Cisco and Microsoft certifications are a plus but not necessary).


SUPERVISORY/MANAGEMENT SKILLS:

This position is responsible for the management of all activities of the Information Technology Group and Information Systems group. The incumbent is responsible for performing managerial activities in accordance with the organization’s personnel policies, priorities, procedures, and applicable laws. The responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding, and disciplining employees, addressing complaints, and resolving problems. The position reports to the Sr. Director, Finance and Administration (Direct reports 1).
