- Follow instructions provided by Director, in assigned area operation, as necessary.
- Perform all Mech/Tech I- Mech/Tech IV, and Plant Maintenance functions and responsibilities with no hesitation, or limitations.
- Support key operational performance indicators defined by local leadership and maintenance system requirements
- Provide ongoing technical training to improve equipment reliability, reduce downtime, and support best-in-class distribution operations
- Apply continuous improvement and root cause analysis methods to improve asset reliability and reduce recurring equipment failures
- Manage, track, and prioritize both planned and unplanned maintenance work through direct reports
- Expected, and capable, of working without supervision.
- Prepare proposals and budgets for special projects as requested.
- Actively participate in the training, coaching, and the development of maintenance staff.
- Communicate effectively and respectfully with co-workers, management and department employees
- Possess superior trouble-shooting skills, and has the leadership ability to initiate, control, and supervise all maintenance activities in assigned area.
- Support and follow established best practices through Management System initiatives, including ISO and company standards
- Partner with Risk Management on contractor safety and compliance requirements
- Support all quality, safety, and operational compliance initiatives within the distribution center
- Manage small internal and capital projects, including contractor coordination, vendor scheduling, and minimizing disruption to warehouse operations.
- Other duties, as assigned by area Director.
Required Experience
- Must be capable of working with little supervision, supervising other maintenance employees and demonstrate mastery and proficiency in understanding facility operation and maintenance. The Maintenance Manager must be a positive leader, with the ability to design and initiate training programs to develop the necessary skills required of the engineering staff to maintain a high level of competence. Read, understand and assume responsibility for performance of all procedures, assignments, notices and policies applicable to assigned area and common areas, including posted notices.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
- Sixty (60) days on-the-job training under the direct supervision of Department Manager or Director. Power Industrial Truck (PIT) certification may be required and must be maintained. Additional training requirements/needs are assessed during an annual performance evaluation.
Preferred Education and Experience
- A minimum high school diploma or equivalent. A technical degree is preferred. Experience may be substituted in place of education with approval based on the quality, and experience, relating to the specific area of specialty. This position requires high level skills for mechanical, electrical and pneumatic systems. Experience with facility maintenance for a minimum of 5 years is preferred, or three years experience as an Equipment Specialist
