Summary

We are representing a well-regarded architecture firm seeking a talented Project Architect with 3+ years of experience working on complex commercial and Division of State Architect (DSA) regulated projects.

This role is a strong fit for an emerging design professional who is ready to take on meaningful project responsibility in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate brings a solid technical foundation, an eye for detail, and a working understanding of DSA submittal and compliance requirements.

Projects typically include K–12 school new construction and modernization, community college facilities, commercial office, and other complex design and publicly regulated building programs.

Key Responsibilities

Project Design & Documentation

  • Develop and manage construction documents, design drawings, and technical specifications
  • Coordinate with engineers, consultants, and contractors throughout design and construction phases
  • Support design development from schematic design through construction administration
  • Ensure drawings meet DSA requirements, building codes, and project-specific standards

DSA & Regulatory Compliance

  • Prepare and manage DSA submittal packages including plan check coordination and response to comments
  • Maintain compliance with Title 24, CBC, ADA, and all applicable DSA regulations
  • Coordinate with IOR and DSA field engineers during construction administration as needed
  • Track and respond to RFIs, ASIs, and submittal reviews in a timely manner

Client & Team Collaboration

  • Support Project Managers and Principals in client meetings and design presentations
  • Coordinate internally across design disciplines to ensure cohesive and constructible documentation
  • Communicate clearly with contractors, consultants, and public agency representatives

Project Experience Required

  • DSA-Regulated K–12 School & Community College Projects
  • Complex Commercial & Institutional Buildings
  • Construction Administration on Publicly Funded Projects
  • Title 24, CBC, and ADA Compliance
  • Projects ranging from $5M – $50M+

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in a professional architecture firm with commercial and/or DSA project exposure
  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Working knowledge of DSA submittal processes, Title 24, CBC, and ADA requirements
  • Experience with construction administration including RFIs, submittals, and ASIs preferred
  • Familiarity with Bluebeam and project management platforms a plus
  • Strong graphic, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture required
  • ARE candidacy or licensure in progress preferred
