Expert staffing west is seeking a Quality Assurance Supervisor to oversee and enhance
food safety and quality assurance programs across both our FDA plant-based and USDA regulated meat production divisions. This position plays a critical role in maintainingcertifications, ensuring compliance with FDA/USDA regulations, and championing aculture of continuous improvement in food safety, sanitation, and quality assurance
practices.
The ideal candidate has a strong background in food manufacturing food safety, quality and
microbiological systems, regulatory compliance, and team leadership. This role will
collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including production, sanitation, R&D,
and supply chain to maintain excellence in quality and safety standards across all product
lines.
Primary Responsibilities:
Food Safety & Quality Program Leadership
• Lead and maintain SQF, FSMA, HACCP, and Preventive Control programs across
both divisions.
• Ensure compliance with FDA and USDA regulations, including routine internal
validations and audits.
• Maintain certifications including Non-GMO Project, Kosher, Organic, Halal, and
Certified Humane.
• Conduct nutritional audits and manage Genesis Nutrition Facts Panel creation and
updates.
• Oversee packaging claims, certifications, and USDA and FDA label compliance
(NFP, ingredient statements, allergen declarations).
Compliance, Documentation & Reporting
• Interface with regulatory agencies, certification bodies, and customer QA teams to
ensure audit readiness.
• Review product specifications, COAs, testing protocols, and maintain up-to-date
QA documentation.
• Ensure all sanitation, microbiological, and lab testing procedures are conducted
and meet company and regulatory standards.
• Prepare and present KPI reports detailing microbiological trends, deficiencies, and
corrective actions.
Training, Projects & Process Improvement
• Lead food safety and quality training initiatives; monitor training effectiveness and
engagement.
• Drive plant audit corrective action plans and ensure timely resolution.
• Support R&D and shelf-life studies to validate product safety, microbial limits, and
sensory benchmarks.
• Participate in new product development and facility improvement projects,
including equipment qualification and facility setup.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Champion quality and food safety across the organization by partnering with
production and operations leadership.
• Respond to consumer complaints, implement root cause analysis, and develop
corrective actions.
• Provide technical support and industry insights through continuous education and
participation in Food Safety seminars and events.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in food science, Microbiology, Biology, or a related field preferred;
equivalent industry experience considered.
• Minimum 5 years of Food Safety Quality Assurance experience in a USDA or FDA regulated food manufacturing environment. (Dual inspection experience preferred)
• Strong knowledge of GMP, HACCP, FSMA, SQF, USDA/FDA regulatory requirements,
and third-party certifications.
• Proficient in Genesis Nutritional Software, Microsoft Office Suite, and ERP systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, organization, and analytical skills.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
• Ability to work weekends as needed and thrive in a fast-paced production
environment.
