Assistant Residential Supervisor
Independent Living Association (ILA) has been providing high quality care to Individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities for more than 30 years. Our person-centered services foster increased independence and community integration, while guiding and supporting families along a challenging path.
Function:
Reporting to the Residence Supervisor, the Assistant Resident Supervisor assists in the supervision of the day-to-day operations of the residence.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Specific duties include the following but are not limited to:
§ Supervise the Direct Care Counselors, Cook and Maintenance personnel. Ensure training is provided to the facility staff.
§ Manages the residence in the absence of the Residence Supervisor and report to the Area Coordinator.
§ Responsible for employee relations. Resolve employee related problems and issues. Conflict resolution.
§ Ensure safety and sanitation in the residences and that adequate support services (vendors, suppliers) are maintained.
§ In conjunction with the Supervisor, completes and administers all performance evaluations of union staff.
§ As part of the hiring process, attends job/career fairs and open houses with Recruitment Specialist.
§ Participates in administering the Agency’s progressive disciplinary program.
§ Conducts suspensions and participated in employment terminations.
§ Participates in the grievance process with union employees.
§ Ensure appropriate staff for facility and assigns specific daily task assignment.
§ Completes payroll.
§ Ensures adequate coverage for staff vacation. Approves and disapproves staff vacation based on coverage.
§ Provide emergency coverage of the residence as the occasion may arise.
§ Partner with the Residence Supervisor to ensure that fire drills are conducted.
§ Manage Individual accounts, records and petty cash. Send vendor receipts, invoices and statements to the Purchasing Manager.
§ Review the van log to ensure it is been maintained.
§ Oversee the supervision and training of Individuals in cooking, kitchen and household duties and general hygiene.
§ Provide direct services to the individual together with the direct care staff.
§ Responsible for planning individual Community Inclusion and recreational activities.
§ Develop a community inclusion calendar and ensure inclusions are completed at least 3x a week for each individual.
§ Together with the Supervisor, the assistant supervisor is responsible for proper and adequate staffing of the facility. The duties include but are not limited to:
Ø Actively participated in all individual conference meeting and treatment plans.
Ø Responsible for the training, guiding and motivation of staff in the implementation of the Individuals’ treatment plans:
Ø Ensuring that the recommendations of the IDT Team are carried out;
Ø Responsible for good community relations especially the immediate surrounding community.
Ø Will check all data collection on a daily basis.
§ Perform additional duties as required.
Requirements:
§ High school diploma. Associate’s degree in Health or Human Services preferred.
§ Minimum of two years of supervisory experience with the developmentally disabled population is preferred.
§ Minimum two years related experience in a social service setting.
§ Must be able to work a flexible schedule; day’s evenings, weekends and overnights.
§ Must have a valid NYS drivers’ license
