About the role

OPT Industries builds a proprietary additive manufacturing platform producing micron-resolution polymer structures. We're looking for a senior material scientist to lead the development of high-performance photopolymer materials, someone who can independently run a program from formulation strategy through customer qualification, and who is hands-on at the bench daily.

What you'll do
\n
- \n
- Lead formulation development of photopolymer resin systems for demanding industrial applications, owning programs from initial strategy through customer qualification
- Design and execute systematic formulation studies: monomer and oligomer selection, additive and filler systems, photo-initiator packages, and iterate rapidly against performance targets
- Perform hands-on materials characterization across thermal, mechanical, and rheological properties; interpret results and translate them into formulation decisions
- Balance competing material requirements: printability, cure behavior, thermal performance, and mechanical properties, to arrive at manufacturable solutions
- Optimize resin systems for OPT's 3D printing processes, working closely with our print and process engineers
- Work directly with customer engineering teams to align on specifications, present data, and support qualification programs.

What we're looking for
\n
- \n
- Master or PhD in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science, or related field
- 3+ years of industry experience with photopolymer or thermoset formulation
- Proven ability to independently drive a materials program end to end
- Strong hands-on characterization skills
- Experience with DLP/SLA printing is a plus
