BENEFITS:

Purpose of Position: In coordination with each local Area Coordinator oversees the quality of work performed by the area maintenance workers, the planning and scheduling of repairs and improvements to buildings and facilities, and other property issues. Maintain strong ethical and integrity when conducting business on behalf of RCMA.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to the following:

  1. Establishes strategies to maintain effective communication with area coordinators, area maintenance workers and others as appropriate.
  1. Through regular visits to sites, assesses the current conditions of facilities to ensure repairs of minor and major improvements are forecasted, monitor completion of e-maintenance checklist offering technical assistance as needed.
  1. Develop a cost benefit analysis facility needs in collaboration with facilities and fiscal team to ensure purchases of hign quality supplies and equipment at the right price.
  1. Oversees process, obtains quotes, bids, prepare, issue and maintain all solicitation documents, correspondence and contracts in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.
  1. Participates in the installation of new playground equipment installation and provides necessary training to center staff as required by Head Start and other regulations.
  1. Oversees the quality of work when area maintenance workers are engaged in playground restoration, and general maintenance. This includes recommendations regarding equipment safety, mulch needs, etc.
  1. Researches local or statewide vendor options, negotiates and coordinates outside contracted services for maintenance, installation and repairs in compliance with policies and procedures.
  1. Acts as project manager and supervise work of contractors and/or projects from start to finish as requested.
  1. Responds to facility-related emergencies or urgent issues as they arise.


MANDATORY QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty element satisfactorily while exercising independent judgment and discretion under the general supervision of the Facilities Project Manager.The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or GED required and four years related experience as maintenance worker, construction experience and training. Head Start Playground Safety Training/Certification highly desirable.


COMPLIANCE: Works independently under the general supervision of the Facilities Project Manager and the guidance of applicable federal, state, and local statutes, regulations, policies, procedures. Ensure compliance with all funding source requirements ie: Head Start and DCF.


LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, correspondence, and basic procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, staff, and the general public.


REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

OTHER:

  • Must be age 21 or older.
  • Have or be able to obtain a Florida drivers license. Driving record acceptable to RCMA’s insurance carrier is required.
  • Overnight travel is occasionally required.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Professional) software is required.
