Technical Program Manager, Platform & Infrastructure
Job Description
Job DescriptionAbout the Opportunity
We are partnering with a high-growth AI technology company to identify a Technical Program Manager, Platform & Infrastructure to drive critical platform, infrastructure, and scaling initiatives across the business.
This person will serve as the connective tissue across core infrastructure, backend platform, product engineering, security, finance, and executive stakeholders. The role will own complex, multi-quarter initiatives such as cloud migrations, infrastructure cost optimization, capacity and performance planning, BYOC, strategic vendor coordination, and the buildout of internal platform foundations.
This is a highly cross-functional and technical role for someone who can go deep with senior infrastructure and platform engineers, align engineering leaders and executives around durable plans, and drive programs from ambiguous mandate through measurable delivery.
Company Environment
This is a fast-scaling AI technology company operating at the intersection of enterprise software, infrastructure, and complex knowledge work. The team moves quickly, values ownership and clear decision-making, and is focused on building simple, scalable systems that can support rapid customer and product growth.
This role is best suited for someone who thrives in high-ambiguity environments, can bring structure to complex technical programs, and knows how to keep cross-functional teams aligned without adding unnecessary process.
What You'll Do
- Own end-to-end execution of strategic platform and infrastructure programs, including cloud migrations, infrastructure cost optimization, capacity planning, BYOC, and internal platform foundations.
- Partner closely with infrastructure, platform, product engineering, security, finance, and leadership teams to unblock execution and align stakeholders.
- Lead infrastructure cost and capacity programs, establishing ownership, accountability, forecasting, and reporting mechanisms across engineering teams.
- Manage structured engagement with strategic external vendors, including cloud providers, AI platform partners, and infrastructure vendors.
- Define, measure, and report on platform and infrastructure health metrics, including cost, capacity headroom, migration progress, platform adoption, reliability, and risk.
- Identify systemic gaps in platform maturity, infrastructure planning, capacity, observability, and operating cadence.
- Convert ambiguous technical problems into structured multi-quarter roadmaps with clear owners, milestones, dependencies, and risk tracking.
- Run operating rhythms for platform and infrastructure programs, including working groups, steering reviews, executive readouts, and risk reviews.
- Partner with senior ICs and engineering managers to evaluate architectural tradeoffs, sequence dependencies, and keep complex programs moving.
What We're Looking For
- 8+ years of technical program management experience, with a track record of driving large, ambiguous, multi-quarter platform or infrastructure programs at scale.
- Deep technical fluency across platform and infrastructure domains such as cloud platforms, Kubernetes, databases, networking, observability, CI/CD, and platform/service frameworks.
- Experience driving at least one major infrastructure initiative such as a cloud migration, infrastructure cost optimization program, internal platform buildout, BYOC rollout, or large horizontal infrastructure program.
- Ability to influence senior engineering stakeholders, including Staff+ ICs, engineering managers, and executive sponsors, without direct authority.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex technical tradeoffs into clear narratives for executive and cross-functional audiences.
- Experience building durable operating mechanisms such as review forums, metrics, reporting cadences, and decision-making processes.
- Comfort operating in ambiguity and creating structure where the problem is not yet fully defined.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
Preferred Experience
- Experience driving infrastructure cost programs in high-growth environments.
- Experience leading a cloud migration, BYOC rollout, or major platform consolidation.
- Experience standing up or scaling internal platform, infrastructure, or developer experience functions.
- Experience managing strategic vendor relationships with cloud providers, infrastructure providers, or AI platform partners.
- Familiarity with modern infrastructure tooling such as Terraform, Kubernetes, service meshes, data platforms, Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, or similar observability tools.
- Prior experience as an engineering manager, platform/infrastructure engineer, SRE, or technical lead before moving into program management.
Compensation & Benefits
The annual base salary range for this role is expected to be: $188,000 – $278,000 USD
Final compensation will depend on experience, location, internal level, and overall fit. Equity and benefits may also be included as part of the broader compensation package.
Benefits may include medical, dental, and vision coverage, equity participation, paid time off, parental leave, learning and development support, and hybrid work flexibility.
