Job Description

Job Description

IDAK Communications is seeking motivated Traveling Entry-Level Telecommunications Technicians to join our field teams installing and maintaining DC power and battery plant systems for the nation's largest carriers (AT&T, CenturyLink/Lumen, Verizon, and Motorola environments).

This is hands-on work that takes you across the country, building the backbone that keeps networks alive and people connected. You don't need years of experience to start—you need a strong work ethic, a willingness to learn, and the drive to do the job right. We'll train you, mentor you in the field, and give you a path to grow into a skilled DC power technician.

What You'll Do

  • Assist experienced technicians with DC power and battery plant installations
  • Help run, dress, and label power cable, bus bar, and grounding systems
  • Assemble and position ironwork, cable rack, and equipment frames
  • Stage materials, manage tools, and keep a clean, organized, safe work site
  • Learn to use test equipment (digital voltmeter, AMP clamp meter, Midtronics test sets)
  • Support documentation, site surveys, and close-out paperwork
  • Follow published standards, methods of procedure (MOPs), and all safety policies
  • Build your skills toward higher-level installation and commissioning work

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; technical or trade school a plus
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand spoken English
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn DC power systems
  • Comfortable using basic hand tools (or eager to learn)
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, OneNote a plus)
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to follow direction with a "Can-Do" attitude
  • Team player who communicates professionally with coworkers and customers

Job Requirements

  • Adaptable to changing environments, schedules, and project requirements
  • Lift up to 75 lbs
  • Stand and sit for long periods while performing tasks
  • Climb and work off a ladder up to 12', not exceeding the ladder's weight restrictions
  • Work under raised floors and in varied site conditions
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and valid insurance
  • Provide your own basic hand tools (or willingness to acquire them)
  • Pass a drug screening and criminal background check
  • This position requires up to 100% travel. Must be able to meet assignments of 2–3 weeks or more at a time, depending on location, and work varying schedules—days, evenings, nights (approved maintenance-window work), weekends, and holidays

Why IDAK?

Start your career building something that matters. You'll work alongside seasoned technicians who take craftsmanship seriously, learn an in-demand trade, and see the country while you do it. We invest in our people, back our techs in the field, and promote based on skill and effort—so the work you put in is the career you build.
