Job Title: Maintenance Technician

Job Description

The Maintenance Technician supports manufacturing operations by maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving production equipment, facility systems, and industrial machinery. This role focuses on electrical and mechanical troubleshooting within an industrial manufacturing environment, with a strong emphasis on industrial automation, machine repair, CNC equipment, and facility maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, install, and maintain production equipment, machinery, forklifts, power tools, and facility systems to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Perform advanced electrical troubleshooting on 480V 3-phase electrical systems, motor controls, motor starters, variable frequency drives (VFDs), PLC-controlled equipment, and 24VDC control circuits.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, and equipment manuals to identify issues and implement effective repairs.
  • Troubleshoot and repair industrial automation systems including relays, sensors, contactors, safety circuits, and control panels.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and corrective repairs to maximize equipment uptime, reliability, and overall performance.
  • Fabricate, repair, and modify machine components, fixtures, tooling, guards, brackets, and other mechanical parts as needed.
  • Operate manual machine shop equipment such as milling machines, engine lathes, presses, and grinders to support maintenance and fabrication tasks.
  • Perform welding, cutting, machining, and metal fabrication to support equipment repair and modification.
  • Complete maintenance work orders, repair documentation, and preventive maintenance records accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Perform facility maintenance tasks, including work on electrical systems, HVAC, plumbing, and compressed air systems.
  • Conduct diagnostics and repairs on CNC machines and related equipment, with an emphasis on maintaining performance and minimizing downtime.
  • Support continuous improvement of equipment reliability and safety by identifying recurring issues and recommending corrective actions.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience troubleshooting and repairing manufacturing equipment in an industrial environment.
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting skills with 480V 3-phase systems, motor controls, motor starters, VFDs, PLC-controlled equipment, and 24VDC control circuits.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and equipment manuals.
  • Hands-on experience performing preventive maintenance and equipment diagnostics on production and facility systems.
  • Mechanical aptitude and demonstrated ability to perform facility and equipment repairs across electrical, mechanical, and fluid power systems.
  • Experience with hydraulics and pneumatics in an industrial maintenance setting.
  • Experience performing maintenance on CNC machines (highly preferred).
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting PLC-controlled equipment and basic PLC-related issues.
  • Ability to perform welding, fabrication, and machining to support maintenance activities.
  • Experience with facility maintenance, including electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and compressed air systems.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in industrial maintenance, electrical maintenance, and preventive maintenance in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working with industrial automation components such as relays, sensors, contactors, safety circuits, and control panels.
  • Ability to safely operate manual machine shop equipment including milling machines, engine lathes, presses, and grinders.
  • Comfort working with forklifts and power tools as part of maintenance and repair duties.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose complex equipment issues efficiently.
  • Attention to detail in documentation, including work orders, repair records, and preventive maintenance logs.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively with production and maintenance teams.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed to support production and maintenance requirements.

Work Environment

This role is based in an industrial manufacturing environment with large, loud machines and active production areas. The facility is open air, so temperatures can be hot or cold depending on the weather. The position works on first shift, typically from 5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with overtime available as needed. You will regularly work around heavy equipment, CNC machines, electrical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and compressed air systems, using tools such as forklifts, power tools, welding equipment, and manual machine shop machinery. Appropriate industrial work attire and personal protective equipment are required to ensure safety in this environment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Vista, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
